The Samsung Galaxy S 10 Lite as the name implies this is the slimmed down version of the Samsung Galaxy S 10 and the S 10 Plus but it costs at least a few hundred dollars less on paper this looks like a legit flagship phone, because of flagship great specifications, great cameras and we also like good overall performance.
We are going to go through all the pros and cons of this device, so we can make the buying decision yourself. When it comes to design, the Galaxy S 10 Lite is a typical Samsung phone. We have a solid metal frame, good build quality glass on the front and rear. Any metal made buttons that are tactile and easy to reach, simply put the device looks premium and it feels like a legit flagship device. We also like the fact that the phone is relatively thin, measuring at just about 8.1 millimetres. Considering a huge 4500 MaH hours battery, that lasts a long time. My record screen on time is over 11 hours. When we used the phone mostly for video and social media, obviously the battery does not last that long. If you use the phone more intensively, it was fast charging support but no wireless charging which is a feature reserved for flagship devices. A few downsides, there is no headphone jack. The phone is neither dust nor water resistant and there is just a single bottom firing speaker which is pretty good, yet not as good as the dual stereo speaker system found on the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus.
A 6.7 inches display makes the phone huge in comparison the S 10 Lite is taller and slightly wider than the Samsung Galaxy S 10 Plus but rounded edges on the back of the phone make the device feel comfortable to hold in the hand. The display is really nice and beautiful to look at well it's not as good as the panel found on the Samsung Galaxy S 10 Plus but we like the sharpness, good contrast and the blacks. Also, sunlight legibility is pretty good. There is a little punch hole for a beefy 32 megapixel selfie shooter on the back. We have a triple camera setup that consists of regular wide–angle and macro lens. The main shooter has an optical image stabilization that we'll talk about in the image quality section in just a bit.
The under display fingerprint scanner to be pretty fast and accurate. Yet it's not the fastest out. There the face unlocks feature works fine in all lighting conditions.
The phone chips with the flagship-grade Snapdragon chipset plenty of RAM and storage which can be further expanded via the microSD card slot. The result of it excellent gaming performance, we played quite a few different games on the highest graphics settings and they all ran absolutely fine. We played Asphalt Extreme, Asphalt 9 and PUBG for hours, and we enjoyed flagship grade graphics performance. The one unit point is based on Android 10 and it's typical Samsung loaded with features and customization options. We like that there are many ways of customizing the screen including the always-on display that compensates the lack of the LED notification light. There is also a dark mode, plenty of themes and advanced features to play with and you can also choose between classic and gesture-based UI navigation systems. The overall performance has been really good honestly we can't tell the difference between this phone and the flagship Samsung Galaxy S 10 Plus. Both devices are fast and responsive pretty much all the time.
Most of the phone camera must perform well in excellent lighting conditions in order to test the customize cameras, we took most of the shots on a dark and cloudy winter day and compared them to the Samsung Galaxy S 10 Plus. The results are really impressive the pictures come out sharp, detailed and color reproduction is usually accurate and sometimes the S 10 Lite can take even better looking photos than the S 10 Plus. We would still say that the S 10 Plus has better cameras as most of the shots look a lot sharper but overall we can say that the S 10 Lite performs like a flagship. The main complaint is that the wide-angle shots could have more detail and sharpness. If you take pictures on a nice and sunny day, the quality is even better as there, a little bit more detail dynamic range is usually on point and overall the charts come out really nice. The S 10 Lite’s cameras are pretty impressive in low–light, both in aura and night modes. In fact, some of the shots look even better than the ones taken with a flagship has done, plus it's worth mentioning that the night mode works with both main and a wide–angle cameras. There is a dedicated macro lens which can produce quite sharp close–up pictures with a minimum focusing distance of 3 centimetres. We like the overall selfie and portrait image quality. Low–light selfie quality is quite good.
The S 10 Lite can record videos in 4k in both 30 and 60 frames per second. The overall video quality is really good but there is some visible noise, due to the fact that we tested the camera on a cloudy day. If you want to get a more stable video and the ability to switch between the main and wide–angle lens, we suggest you using 30fps mode. There is also the so–called super steady video mode which allows you to record really smooth video. This mode works only in 1080p. We can record selfie videos in either 4k resolution for more detail and sharpness or in 1080p mode which produces significantly more stable video. The sound recording quality is pretty good.
Overall when it comes to connectivity, we found call quality signal reception GPS and Wi–Fi to be working fine. There is also NFC and plenty of sensors onboard. Overall the Samsung Galaxy S 10 Light is a solid phone with many flagship qualities and premium features.
Evaluating the pros, there are quite a few of them including nice design and great build quality, beautiful display with very slim, bezels flagship, grey specifications, great overall performance, excellent battery life with fast charging and near flagship grade cameras.
