Samsung will launch the Galaxy S26 series next year, but even before its debut, reports about the Galaxy S27 series have already started surfacing online. Now, new camera details about the Galaxy S27 Ultra have come to light.
Earlier, it was rumoured that Samsung might introduce a brand-new camera sensor for the S27 Ultra, especially since Sony recently unveiled its first 200MP LYT-901 sensor. However, the latest report suggests that Samsung will not be adopting this top-tier sensor for its upcoming flagship, leaving many fans disappointed.

Camera Sensor Decisions for Future Models
According to @UniverseIce, instead of adopting the latest 1/1.1″ 200MP sensor, Samsung will stick with a 1/1.3″-class 200MP sensor, akin to the HP2 specification. This decision aligns with Samsung’s history of using the same main sensor across several generations. Consequently, the S27 Ultra, S28 Ultra and possibly the S29 Ultra might not see significant upgrades in their main camera technology.
Many fans were hopeful about Samsung introducing a new camera sensor, particularly after Sony launched its 200MP LYT-901 sensor. However, the recent reports suggest that Samsung is not incorporating this sensor in its upcoming flagship, leaving some enthusiasts disappointed.
The leak claims that the Galaxy S27 Ultra was initially set to receive an upgrade to a 1/1.1″ 200MP main camera, but senior management has reportedly cancelled the project due to cost concerns and its impact on the device’s overall profit margin. It also states that Samsung will not be adopting these top-tier 1/1.1″ 200MP sensors in the next few years.
Fans eagerly await Samsung’s official announcements to see how these decisions will shape the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra and its successors. Enthusiasts are keen to discover what other features might compensate for the lack of camera advancements.
