Vivo is gearing up to launch new mid-range smartphones in China soon. The Vivo S50 series was recently detailed by reliable Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station. The post all-but confirms that Vivo S50 series launch timeframe of December 2025.

Digital Chat Station further reveals that the Vivo S50 lineup is internally codenamed “Battle Angel” and is slated for a December launch, aligning with earlier reports. According to the tipster, Vivo is targeting a flagship-level upgrade across three major pillars in its upcoming mid-range series – a first for the brand.

Vivo S50 Series: What to Expect

The S50 series is said to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, a Sony IMX882-class periscope telephoto camera, and an enhanced ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader similar to the one used in the X300 series. Despite these premium upgrades, the phones will reportedly retain the S-series’ signature slim, minimalist design, while pushing hardware and software capabilities well above typical mid-range standards.

With year-end competition intensifying in the “flagship-killer” bracket, DCS hints that buyers may want to wait for multiple contenders to drop before making a decision. Previous leaks suggest that the Vivo S50 Pro Mini will sport a 6.31-inch 1.5K 120Hz OLED display, a large 6,000mAh-6,500mAh battery, and Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 power. Its triple-camera setup is expected to include a flagship-grade periscope telephoto lens.

The standard Vivo S50 is tipped to be slightly bigger, featuring a 6.59-inch 1.5K 120Hz OLED screen. While some speculated it might use the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, DCS clarifies that the device will also run on a Snapdragon 8-series chipset. It too is likely to include a periscope unit within its triple-camera array. Both models are expected to support 90W fast charging.

There have also been claims that the global Vivo V70 could be a rebranded version of the China-only S50. However, with the V70 recently appearing on Geekbench with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, and the S50 rumored to use a higher-tier Snapdragon 8-series chip, the two models may turn out to be more different than expected.
