While there are a lot of new Gods to get excited about, Smite 2 also sees plenty of familiar faces returning from the original game — and one such God is Hades. Lore-wise, Hades is part of the Greek pantheon of deities and has dominion over the underworld.

While Gods in Smite 2 are way more flexible than their counterparts from the first Smite, Hades will shine most in the Solo and Middle roles. Hades is capable of dishing out a lot of damage, but he can be built to take a hit just as well.

Smite 2: How To Build Mordred

Knowing how to build a God as they play through a match can keep players one step ahead of their opponents.

How To Play Hades In Smite 2

Players will want to keep dealing damage to maintain a high uptime of Blight on their foes thanks to his passive — Hades’ active abilities will be most effective this way as this will yield more Crowd Control. A brilliant relic for Hades is the Blink Rune, which can help him escape to heal back up.

Hades is great at Area of Effect Damage and Crowd Control, but what makes him really dangerous is his ability to stay on the field thanks to Death From Below and Shroud of Darkness. Death From Below will allow Hades to pass through the Underworld and emerge to deal damage — as well as slow enemies affected by Blight. Shroud of Darkness on the other hand can be used to Silence enemies, with any Blighted enemies also being Feared.

DeathFrom Below should be kept when in less than favorable situations, as it can be used to make a quick escape.

Players should use their Devour Souls ability when they have as much Blight as possible across all nearby enemies. This will ensure the most health restored and extra damage output. This is also the case for his Pillar of Agony, with it getting the highest value from affecting as many opponents as possible. Just watch out for Gods that could interrupt this ability — such as Athena.

All of this makes Hades a character that is not the best option for beginners. He has a lot of mechanics and elements that will require awareness and experience from time in the game. Once a player becomes more familiar with the game, they should test out Hades in the various Smite 2 games modes starting with Practice mode. Then take Hades into the Arena game mode which will let them get familiar with using his kit against enemy Gods. Once they are confident using Hades in Arena, then it is time to try him out in Conquest.

Players making the shift from Smite to Smite 2 will be rewarded with Legacy Gems. Here’s how enable the in-game reward.

Hades Auto Builds In Smite 2

Hades has 3 Auto Builds, and these are all amazing options for players looking to enjoy Hades as they learn to play him effectively.

    Burst Damage

Hades is a God that deals out a ton of damage, but he does not need to do so in a consistent stream. With this Burst Damage Auto Build, he can use his Death from Below ability to get behind an opponent and deal some damage in the process. This means a lot of players will respond by needing to re-adjust the camera, only to have Hades use Blink Rune. This is the best Auto Build for players who call the Mid Lane.

    Bruiser

Players that want to have a nice mix of both Offense and Defense will want to go with Bruiser. This Auto Build will not have the same damage numbers as the Burst Damage Auto Build, but it is a much better option when you wish to set your eyes on calling the Solo role. This will mean they will head to the Solo Lane to go toe-to-toe with an enemy God head-on. Since Hades will be playing in lanes a lot, he can be a great God when aiming to get the Minion Dominator trophy.

    Hybrid Tank

Hybrid Tank’s description might sound an awful lot like Bruiser, but this option will lean more into survivability. This lets Hades last longer in order to deal out more damage, rather than be a flat mix of both. This is a good choice for players wishing to put Hades in the Duo Lane along with a Support to back him up.

    Custom Build Smite 2 Hades

Some Gods will make heavy use of Strength, and some will be hybrids that mix both Strength and Intelligence — this is not the case with Hades. Players will want to go all in with Intelligence when it comes to building Hades. Hades works well in both the Solo Lane and the Middle Lane, but these will require building him differently. Book of Thoth is a great early pick for both of these lanes, as it will synergize well with Hades’ high focus on Intelligence. Since Hades is able to constantly heal while in the thick of combat, he is great for disrupting opponents and helping out allies in team fights. Players will also find themselves ganking enemy Gods just like a Jungler does.

Players that focus on the Middle role can find a lot of value from Warlock’s Staff and Ethereal Staff, with Solo roles prioritizing Breastplate of Valor and Gem of Focus. There are many amazing synergies when combining items, and some players might find they like to pack a bit more of a punch in the solo lane by picking the Ethereal Staff as well. Always be improving your Death From Below and Devour Souls abilities, as these make up the most effective strategies for Hades. Hades is not a character you want to see abilities on cooldown, so always be ready to escape when other abilities are not ready while in a fight — Sands of Time and Breastplate of Valor can help with this.

Always be mindful of what is happening on the minimap, and jumping into a fight that an ally has already started is encouraged.
