Locked gates are nothing new to any player in Genshin Impact. Within every area and region in Teyvat, there are tons of secrets and hidden areas that are waiting for the Traveler and Paimon to come upon. Some of these places are locked behind gates that require specific keys found close or far away from their location. It’s up to players who want to solve those puzzles to take time out of their day to search for these keys. Or, of course, like everyone else, you can always look at guides to find the missing key.
While exploring Natlan in Genshin Impact, players might come across a chamber with a locked gate that requires a Red Metal Key to open. Here’s where to find and how to use the Red Metal Key in Genshin Impact.
During the Shadow of the Mountains Story quest, you’ll follow Titu into a cave to start the Beneath the Crystal Rock part of the quest in Genshin Impact. There, you’ll find a locked gate southwest of the cave with a mechanism that requires a Red Metal Key to open. To find the Red Metal Key in Genshin Impact, you’ll have to continue the quest.
Keep following the quest until you reach the part where you have to follow the inscription back to the Lesser Shadow Pin. Transform into a Koholasaurus and follow the Spiritway that will take you into a tight hallway. Keep following the inscription and the Red Metal Key should be on top of the stairs in that tight hallway. The Red Metal Key is in the way, so it’s impossible to miss it while doing the Story quest in Genshin Impact.
To use the Red Metal Key in Genshin Impact, you have to reach the chamber with the Phlogiston Nail; the gate should be southwest of the area. If you found the Red Metal Key first, just keep following the quest and the inscription will eventually lead you back to the chamber. There, you can use the Red Metal Key on the mechanism to open the gate. Inside, you’ll find two Common and one Precious Chests in Genshin Impact. The three Chests combined give players around 14 Primogems, which is an important currency, especially for pulling 4-star and 5-star characters from the wish banner.
