It wouldn’t be a Kia EV Day without a concept car showing the future, would it? That’s why for 2025, Kia brought out the Concept EV2, a preview of what a super-small, super-affordable electric Kia SUV will look like. And this one packs a lot to be excited about.

While firm details are thin on the ground at the moment, we did learn that it’ll come with two battery options—LFP and NCM— and that prices are expected to start at 30,000 Euros ($31,500). The production car is expected to go on sale in Korea, Europe, and other regions in 2026, although the U.S. is extremely unlikely. This is a small car that takes the Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP platform to the European city car segment, and word is it’ll be built at Kia’s plant in Slovakia as a result.

It’ll be the smallest EV in Kia’s lineup (though the number ‘1’ is sitting there, just waiting to be used in the future), and uses Kia’s Opposites United design language to help its face fit. That means vertical lights, Star Map signature lighting, and a neat upright look aping the EV9. It’s pleasingly chunky to look at, with squared-off wheel arches to help it appear rugged and purposeful. Tackling a muddy field shouldn’t be an issue for it… at least, in theory.

The Concept EV2’s interior is the car’s party piece. Despite a small footprint, there’s a silly amount of room in there. It’s easy to get into as well thanks to rear-hinged doors, giving it a “tiny electric Korean Rolls-Royce” vibe. Its rear seats can be folded upwards, allowing the fronts to slide all the way back for a bit of R&R while you recharge, or (and this is genuinely in the press release) so you can “Sit on the vehicle’s flat floor to enjoy a meal.”

The front seats even have tiny stools built into the side, meaning you can perch in the cabin to watch the world go by through its massive opening. Speaking of doors, they have a set of removable triangular speakers built in, so you can take your music with you when you stop off, or pop them in different places in the car.

Kia’s design team put plenty of neat touches in there to make life a little easier, or at least more interesting. Sliding luggage dividers and straps help keep odd-shaped gear in place, while a ‘message lighting’ system will let you show other road users and pedestrians happy thoughts as you go.

As you’d expect from a modern concept, there’s plenty of LED lighting that highlights the door cards front and rear, as well as a special startup animation to add a bit of drama to proceedings. The dash is a rather fine thing, too, with a metal strip that hides a power outlet and a wireless charging pad drawing your eye, and lifting the cabin neatly. Kia has used recycled materials in there as well, as it does in its production cars.

While it’s a concept, Kia says it comes with things like vehicle-to-load charging, over-the-air updates, and everything else you expect from a new Kia EV. During a round table with Kia President and CEO Ho Sung Song, it was revealed that the Concept EV2 won’t be a concept for long; a production car will be seen before 2025 is out.
