Spider-Man 2 Mod Adds John Cena to the Game

A talented Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 modder has released a brand-new mod for the game that swaps out Peter Parker for WWE star John Cena. The recent WWE heel turn of Cena has made him the focus of much media attention, but one gamer has decided to make him the good guy once again by modding him into Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

When Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was first announced for PC, the potential for modders was immediately obvious. The original Marvel’s Spider-Man also had a strong modding community on PC, so it makes sense that the sequel would be even better. Some of the mods for the game so far add more Spidey suits, while others provide interesting crossovers with other franchises. There’s even one Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 mod that adds Peter Parker’s original face from the 2018 game. It will be interesting to see how the modding community continues to evolve over time.

With Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 getting its PC port, new players will want to make sure they do these things as soon as possible!

As first reported by The Gamer, a user over on Nexus Mods named SpideyWRLD999 has released a new Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 mod that replaces Peter Parker with John Cena as he appears in WWE 2K22. Players can choose from two versions of Cena: one with his t-shirt and hat and one without. Given Cena’s recent heel turn over in the WWE, seeing him play the role of the good guy again here definitely feels a little more familiar, even if seeing him swing across New York is a strange sight.

SpideyWRLD999 has produced plenty of unique mods since the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC. A look through their recent mods includes the addition of Deadpool, Homer Simpson, Tiny Tina, and even various suits from Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3. Hopefully, they keep up the great work and continue contributing to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 modding community.

After great work on Spider-Man, Insomniac Games is far from done with the Marvel license. Marvel’s Wolverine remains in development, and the Insomniac leak from well over a year ago hinted that Venom, Spider-Man 3, and X-Men were also in the works for the years to come. It’s worth remembering that those leaks were a while ago now, so plans could have shifted, although they’re still an interesting look into what titles could be on the way until Insomniac officially confirms them.
