Valeo, a global leader in automotive components for internal combustion engines (ICE) and electric vehicles (EVs), has increased its capital expenditure plans by investing in the development of a 3-in-1 combo unit that includes an on-board charger, DC-DC converter, and power distribution unit for electric vehicles. This initiative seeks to provide a more competitive offering for Indian automakers.
According to company representatives, the newly opened facility will produce the highly integrated 3-in-1 combo unit. They emphasized that the manufacturing site in Pune is part of Valeo’s strategy to improve cutting-edge production capabilities, demonstrating the company’s commitment to advancing electrification in India.

The 3-in-1 Combo is a highly integrated power electronics solution that combines three essential components:
- On-Board Charger (OBC)—Converts AC power from the grid to charge the high-voltage battery (ranging from 7kW to 22kW).
- DC-DC Converter—Converts high-voltage power to 12V for auxiliary systems and low-voltage battery charging.
- Power Distribution Unit (PDU)—Efficiently distributes power to critical electric vehicle components, including traction and auxiliary loads.
The Pune facility incorporates advanced automation, intelligent manufacturing techniques, and environmentally friendly production methods.
Valeo reduces reliance on imports by localizing essential power electronic components, streamlines supply chains, and provides cost-effective solutions for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) eager to promote the adoption of electrified vehicles in India.
These investments will significantly increase domestic value addition, strengthen local manufacturing capabilities, and cement Valeo’s position as a key player in India’s transition to electric vehicles.
During the new facility’s inauguration, Xavier Dupont, CEO of Valeo Power Division, and Jayakumar G, Group President and Managing Director of Valeo India, expressed their commitment to supporting the growth of electrified vehicles in India. Dupont stated, “At Valeo, we are committed to providing our clients with cutting-edge technologies for safer and more sustainable mobility.” We are proud to support the Make in India initiative by investing in new production capabilities. I extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the Valeo Power teams for their dedication to advancing electrified mobility.”
Jayakumar G highlighted the strong collaboration between Valeo’s global and Indian teams, saying, “As India accelerates its transition to electrified vehicles, Valeo remains committed to delivering innovative solutions for a sustainable future.”
Valeo has had a significant presence in India since 1997, spanning more than 25 years. The company has eight manufacturing facilities and a cutting-edge global R&D center strategically located in Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Sanand, and Gurgaon. These facilities employ over 7,000 people, nearly half of whom are engineers dedicated to promoting innovation and excellence.
