NEW DELHI: 16th April 2025
Nuego, GreenCell Mobility’s premier intercity electric bus brand in India, has outfitted its entire fleet of 275 buses with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in anticipation of upcoming government regulations requiring such technology in heavy commercial vehicles.
The ADAS technology uses sensors, cameras, and radar to continuously assess road conditions, providing drivers with features such as collision warnings, lane departure notifications, and automatic emergency braking. Nuego’s system includes specific technologies such as Automated Emergency Braking, Electronic Stability Control, and Driver Drowsiness Detection.
“Ensuring guest safety is critical to our operations. We were industry pioneers in equipping our entire fleet with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, setting a new standard for intercity travel,” said Devndra Chawla, GreenCell Mobility’s Managing Director and CEO.
In addition to ADAS, Nuego has implemented a variety of safety protocols, including mandatory breathalyzer tests for drivers before each trip, designated seating for female passengers, real-time GPS tracking, AI-driven driver monitoring, and continuous surveillance via high-definition CCTV cameras installed on all buses.
The company also offers a dedicated helpline for women, clean mid-journey rest stops, and a 24-hour command control center to monitor real-time operations.

Nuego currently operates an electric bus service that connects over 100 cities across India. The buses can travel more than 250 kilometers on a single charge and are subjected to 25 safety checks, including mechanical and electrical evaluations, prior to each trip.
The introduction of advanced safety technologies occurs at a time when India’s transportation sector is dealing with persistent road safety issues. According to government statistics, India has one of the highest rates of road accidents in the world, with many involving commercial vehicles.
