HARYANA: May 8, 2025: Uno Minda, a Tier 1 component manufacturer that specialises in alloy wheels for two-wheelers, has announced plans to invest Rs 200 crore in a new facility in Bawal, Haryana.
This investment will increase its overall production capacity to 9.5 million alloy wheels. The Bawal project, with an annual production capacity of 1.5 million alloy wheels, is expected to strengthen the company’s market position and reduce the country’s reliance on imported alloy wheels for two-wheelers through ongoing investments and a commitment to localisation.
Uno Minda, which recently received new orders from its OEM partners, hopes that this expansion will propel the company into a global leader in automotive components, with 74 manufacturing facilities in six countries and 37 R&D centres worldwide.
The company manufactures more than 25 different types of components and systems for all vehicle types, including internal combustion engines and electric/hybrid vehicles. Company officials have stated that the proposed Rs 299 crore investment will be funded by a combination of debt and internal funds, with operations set to begin in the second quarter of FY 2027.
Uno Minda has also begun commercial production at its expansion project in Supa, Maharashtra, with a greenfield facility that started with a capacity of 4 million wheels and has since nearly doubled to 8 million units.
The company has established itself as a leader in automotive switching systems, lighting systems, acoustics systems, seating systems, and alloy wheels. Its global presence is further strengthened by 19 joint ventures and technical agreements with manufacturers in Japan, Germany, Korea, and China.
Currently, the company focusses on both domestic and export markets, which have significant growth potential as vehicle manufacturers prioritise quality components and supply chain reliability.
