BENGALURU, May 11, 2025: Swapnil Jain and Tarun Mehta, the founders of Ather Energy, have announced an investment in Neurostellar, a Chennai-based deep technology startup.
This company researches the brain-machine interface to improve human welfare through the use of neurotechnology.
Neurostellar creates algorithms for devices that monitor neurological, sleep, and psychiatric disorders. Their hardware consists of a 24-channel wireless smart EEG system that monitors brain electrical activity without the need for a trained technician. The accompanying software has a user-friendly interface for desktop and mobile devices, including noise reduction, artefact elimination, and seizure localisation capabilities.
Swapnil Jain, Co-Founder of Ather, expressed enthusiasm for the investment, saying, “We are thrilled about our investment in Neurostellar.” This startup, incubated at IITM, takes a design approach in India to wearables with a strong emphasis on mental well-being.
Orbit by Neurostellar is a smart headband designed for mental fitness. It uses a multi-modal strategy that includes electroencephalography (EEG) sensors to monitor brain electrical activity and photoplethysmography (PPG) sensors to measure blood flow and heart rate variability.
Jain also mentioned that advanced signal processing techniques and AI algorithms are used to analyse these signals, resulting in accurate, real-time metrics for stress, focus, and mental fatigue.
