New Delhi, May 15, 2025: JK Tyre & Industries Ltd has begun production of ‘UX Royale Green’ ISCC Plus Certified Sustainable Raw Material Tyres at its Chennai facility.
This launch of the new sustainable tyre marks a pioneering achievement in the sector and highlights JK’s dedication to green technology and minimising carbon emissions through ongoing research and development excellence, according to company officials.
The JK passenger car radial tyre was developed in August 2023 and is made up of 80% sustainable, recycled, and renewable materials. It has undergone extensive evaluation and testing. The UX Royale Green is the result of more than a decade of dedicated research by JK Tyre’s Global Tech Centre.
The R&D team has focused on developing alternative solutions to replace traditional petroleum-based materials with sustainable alternatives, according to Dr. Raghupati Singhania, Chairman and Managing Director of JK Tyre & Industries Ltd.
Commenting on the announcement, he stated, “The introduction of sustainable tyre production marks a watershed moment in JK Tyre’s pursuit of environmentally responsible innovation. This achievement demonstrates our ongoing commitment to promoting responsible mobility, which is based on green technology, circular economy principles, and the provision of world-class, low-impact products.
“Simultaneously, innovation, quality, and safety remain central to our operations,” Singhania said.
The certification, granted under the internationally recognised International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC Plus) framework, confirms the company’s use of traceable and responsibly sourced renewable and recycled raw materials, reinforcing its commitment to environmental stewardship and circular manufacturing practices.
JK was among India’s early adopters, becoming the world’s first tyre manufacturer to obtain ISO 9001 certification across all of its operations in 1995. The ISCC Plus certification for raw materials guarantees comprehensive traceability of sustainable practices.
