Bengaluru, June 4, 2025— Within a year of its launch, Ather Energy, one of India’s top producers of electric two-wheelers, revealed that the Rizta, a family-friendly scooter, had sold over one lakh units at retail, achieving a significant milestone in the company’s growth plan.
The Rizta was created especially for family use, with comfort, storage, and safety features catered to everyday commuting needs. It was first demonstrated in April 2024 and made available throughout India in June of the same year. Approximately 60% of Ather’s total sales volume now comes from this model, which the company claims has helped increase the brand’s market share in several states, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh.

“Hitting the 1 lakh milestone with the Rizta is a big moment for us,” said Ravneet Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy. “It has greatly increased our presence in states where we previously had limited reach and helped us broaden our consumer profile.”
The Rizta’s technologically advanced safety features and sensible design are the foundation of its success. The scooter has a spacious floorboard, a wide seat, and 56 litres of underseat storage. It also has a number of connected features, including integrated Google Maps for navigation, emergency stop signalling, and live location sharing, in addition to proprietary technology like SkidControlTM, a traction control system that helps keep the vehicle stable on slick roads.
In the fourth quarter of FY25, Ather became the leading brand of electric scooters in South India thanks to the Rizta’s sales boom, according to Vahan registration data.

By focusing on both functionality and performance, Ather Energy, which was founded in 2013 by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain, has carved out a distinct niche for itself in the Indian EV market. The company offers the Ather 450 series in addition to the Rizta for riders who are performance-conscious. Ather also operates the Ather Grid, a specialised fast-charging network that had 3,611 chargers globally as of March 2025, including 33 in Nepal and Sri Lanka and 3,578 in India.
With 309 registered trademarks, 203 registered designs, and 47 patents, Ather’s expanding intellectual property portfolio establishes it as a major player in India’s quickly changing electric vehicle market.
Ather seems well-positioned to capitalise on the rising demand for family-friendly EVs in urban and semi-urban India, thanks to Rizta’s early success.
