Some Silent Hill f players on Steam have received some unexpected surprises in the form of pre-order and Deluxe Edition content that they did not pay for, but they shouldn’t expect to hold onto it for long. Konami is working to resolve this unintentional access to bonus content in Silent Hill f for Standard Edition players, so they should probably try to make the most of it while it’s available.
Silent Hill f was released on September 25, although players who purchased the Deluxe Edition were granted 48 hours of early access. That’s not the only bonus players received for ponying up the extra cash, as additional content not intended to be included in the standard edition includes access to the game’s soundtrack, a digital art book filled with design work for the game, and an in-game pink rabbit costume for protagonist Hinako.
Konami is Taking Back Silent Hill f Bonus Content from Some Players
However, publisher Konami has revealed that some customers who purchased just the base game via Steam have received full access to these rewards, along with Silent Hill f pre-order bonuses. These pre-order bonuses include additional costumes and some item packs that players who purchased the game following its release should not have received. A post on the official Silent Hill Twitter page acknowledges this problem, and while it doesn’t specify why some Steam customers have received content they did not pay for, it does indicate that a patch that should resolve the issue is in the works, so they should not get attached.
This isn’t the first apparent blunder tied to Silent Hill f‘s release. Nearly a week before the launch of the standard edition was scheduled to take place, reports of physical copies of Silent Hill f in the wild began surfacing. While the early distribution of the game can hardly be blamed on Konami, it still caused dismay for fans who had expected to dive in on launch day, fearing that spoilers would be leaked by those who had received their copies ahead of schedule.
A few fans reacting to the announcement showed disappointment that they would lose access to the bonus content. However, an overwhelmingly large unrelated response came in the form of players wanting Silent Hill f’s problems on PlayStation 5 Pro to be fixed. Reports from before the game’s release had already indicated issues with PS5 Pro’s PSSR AI upscaling, including heavily flickering visuals. With the recent announcement, players have taken the recent opportunity to complain about other early glitches, including Hinako’s inconsistent movement speed and one commenter who included an image of her with ridiculously long legs.
