After some hands-on time with Battlefield 6‘s first season, I can confidently say that some of its new additions are going to be great —really great. Rogue Ops, the first phase of Season 1, will add three new weapons to the general arsenal when it drops on October 28, and despite being radically different additions, each has the stuff to be meta-defining. In fact, these three new Battlefield 6 weapons are probably among the best in their respective weapon classes.

The recent Battlefield 6 Season 1 playtest only had three new weapons available for use —the three from the season’s first phase specifically —but that turned out great, as it gave players a reasonable amount of time to test the capabilities of each, both in-game and at the firing range. With that experience in the rearview and after some serious consideration, it’s clear that these weapons will be dominant in the next Battlefield 6 meta.

All of Battlefield 6 Season 1’s Weapons, Explained

    The roadmap for Season one

Season 1 of Battlefield 6 is adding five new weapons to the game over the course of its three distinct phases — Rogue Ops, releasing October 28, California Resistance on November 18, and Winter Offensive, dropping December 9:

    Rogue Ops Weapons:

    • The SOR-300SC (Carbine)
    • The Mini Scout (Sniper)
    • The GGH-22 (Sidearm)

    California Resistance Weapons:

    • The DB-12 (Shotgun)
    • The M357 Trait (Revolver)

    Winter Offensive Weapons:

    • The Ice Climbing Axe (Melee)

The hands-on preview only featured the three weapons from Rogue Ops, the first phase of Battlefield 6 Season 1. Those weapons were each excellent for multiple reasons, all of which are listed below.

The SOR-300SC: A Carbine to Dethrone the M4A1

    SOR-300SC Could Dethrone Battelfield 6's M4A1

irst in the bunch, the SOR-300SC may not seem like much at first, but this subtle addition can turn into a machine when used correctly. It has the slowest rate of fire of all of Battlefield 6‘s carbines, but it more than makes up for it with a damage of 33, which sees it tied with the SG 553R and the M417 A2 for the highest DPS carbines in the game. It has a much more moderate recoil, and its control stats are what give this new carbine the edge over others; with the right attachments, it can quickly become a bit of a laser beam.

The SOR-300SC is absolutely use-case-dependent, as it’s unlikely to ever beat an accurate player with a great M4A1 loadout at extreme close range. That said, it affords enough range variability at the other end of the distance spectrum to make it much more impressive in most other engagements. Plus, with the second-quickest base reload speed of all the carbines, you can keep it up and fire more often.

The Mini Scout: Battlefield 6’s New Best Sniper Rifle

BF6's Newest and Best Sniper Rifle

The second new weapon coming in Season 1 is a tribute to Battlefield 4‘s quickest bolt-action rifle, the Scout Elite. The Mini Scout sniper rifle is a smaller, faster weapon perfect for Recon’s looking to do some damage on the fly. It chambers and reloads quickly, and it’s more mobile than any other rifle in its class. Additionally, it has a tighter recoil than any sniper in the game so far, a ten-round magazine, and a lightning-quick ADS speed.

All that speed should technically come at the cost of damage, but it’s a trade that’s completely negated in practice. The Mini Scout only does 80 damage compared to the other Battlefield 6 sniper rifles‘ 100. Still, thanks to the same 1.75x headshot multiplier, it’s an almost unnoticeable difference for any sniper worth their salt. There’s already so much to like about this new sniper; it’s fast, light, and just as deadly as the others, plus it works even better for Recon players who want to slap on a 4x scope to get up close and personal.

The GGH-22: Definitely Not a Glock

    GGH-22 is BF6's newest sidearm

Last and least impressive is the new sidearm, the GGH-22. The Glock-inspired sidearm is good, but in general, there isn’t any statistical difference here to write home about. It’s interesting for what it is and what it’s inspired by, but with a 15-round magazine, a slightly higher muzzle velocity than the default P18 pistol, and not much else, it certainly isn’t a showstopper. Beyond revolvers, however, it’s not like anybody can really expect much variation from the sidearm weapon class.

The GGH-22 is also the only new weapon coming in Battlefield 6 Season 1’s first phase that doesn’t seem to have any new weapon packages.

New Weapons and Weapon Packages Coming in Season 1

BF6 Two New Season One Weapon Blueprints

While the GGH-22 sidearm isn’t nearly as impressive an addition, it’s just as welcome as the other two powerful weapons being added to the roster with the launch of Battlefield 6 on October 28. What makes these new weapons even more exciting is the addition of multiple all-new weapon cosmetics for each, plus packages for all other existing weapons as well. Those packages are appreciated, too, as it’ll be nice to see some variation. After all, if the playtest was anything to go by, the two primary weapons from Rogue Ops are likely going to be seen quite a bit on the battlefield.
