Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 GPU for Desktops and Laptops Launched with Older GDDR6 VRAM, DLSS4, 2560 CUDA Cores

Nvidia has introduced the GeForce RTX 5050, the smallest in its RTX 50-series lineup. Priced at $249, it will be available in late July. The card features a new GB207 die based on Blackwell architecture, with 2560 CUDA cores, which is two-thirds of what the RTX 5060 offers. It includes 5th generation Tensor cores and 4th generation RT cores, supporting DLSS4 with multi-frame generation and Reflex 2.

The RTX 5050 GPU operates at a base clock speed of 2.31GHz, boosting up to 2.57GHz. It comes with an 8GB GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit interface, distinguishing it as the only card in the series without GDDR7. Connectivity options include three DisplayPort 2.1b ports and one HDMI 2.1b port. Additionally, it features a 9th generation NVENC encoder and a 6th generation NVDEC decoder.

Performance and Availability

Nvidia claims that the RTX 5050 is approximately 60% faster in raster performance compared to the RTX 3050 released over three years ago. Its performance is also comparable to the RTX 4060 from two years back. However, Nvidia’s graphs illustrating these comparisons are somewhat unclear.

The card consumes about 130W of power and can be powered using either a single 8-pin connector or a PCIe Gen 5 cable rated at or above 300W. There will be no Founders Edition for this model, but it will be available through major board partners such as ASUS, Colorful, Gainward, Galaxy, GIGABYTE, INNO3D, MSI, Palit, PNY, and ZOTAC.

Mobile Version Launch

A mobile variant of the RTX 5050 is also being launched today in laptops starting at $999. This version aims to bring similar performance enhancements to portable devices as seen in desktop configurations.

Consumers can expect to find the RTX 5050 on store shelves by mid-July. This release marks an important addition to Nvidia’s lineup for those seeking enhanced graphics capabilities at an accessible price point.
