An early prototype of the upcoming Pokemon Pokopia has been leaked online. The Pokemon Pokopia prototype is fully playable, and looks quite different from the version shown by Nintendo.

Pokemon Pokopia was announced in September’s Nintendo Direct, with a release expected for 2026. The upcoming Pokemon game allows the player to control a Ditto that has transformed into a human and can learn abilities from other Pokemon they find. Gamers have discussed how Pokemon Pokopia had strong Minecraft vibes when it was unveiled, but an early prototype of the awaited title shows a fairly different aesthetic and gameplay.

Early Pokemon Pokopia Had Strong Stardew Valley Vibes

RyDawgE has recently discovered a leaked playable Unity-based prototype of Pokemon Pokopia. In this early version of the game, which used pixel art and looked more like Stardew Valley than Minecraft, gamers would assign Pokemon to build and harvest resources while working on farm-like locations. Reports indicate that the title was supposed to be a Nintendo Switch 1 game at first, succeeding Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee. It’s also claimed that the project was solely being worked on by Game Freak before being outsourced to Koei Tecmo’s Omega Force studio.

The current version of Pokemon Pokopia being worked on by Omega Force will be greatly different from this one. Not only will graphics be completely different, but Ditto is clearly the star of Pokemon Pokopia, and its abilities will likely be the most important part of the game. The game will feature multiplayer, and quite a few Pokemon have already been confirmed to appear in the game, including fan favorites such as Charmander, Pikachu, Pichu, Oddish, Pidgey, Vulpix, Lapras, Magikarp, Eevee, many Eeveelutions, and others.

This leaked prototype is just the latest of the many discoveries made about unreleased Pokemon games to appear after the recent major leak. The leak also revealed that Gen 10 Pokemon games will allegedly be called Pokemon Wind and Wave, and will be based on a region inspired by Southeast Asia that will feature procedurally-generated islands. There are indications that the game will be properly revealed on Pokemon Day in February 2026, releasing either in the same year or the following one.

The leak also gave fans information about Pokemon’s Gen 11. It was revealed that Pokemon Gen 11 games will only come out in 2030, so players will likely have a long time before they can finally discover more about them. At least, gamers will soon be able to try out the real Pokemon Pokopia and discover more about its seemingly Minecraft-inspired gameplay.
