Final Fantasy 14 will be making the Forked Tower raid, one of Dawntrail‘s more contentious features, easier for future challengers to take on starting in Patch 7.4. However, it is unclear how far Final Fantasy 14 will go with its planned adjustments to the Forked Tower, which had been criticized for its punishing battle mechanics and steep entry requirements.

Initially released with the Occult Crescent in Patch 7.25, the Forked Tower: Blood is a 48-player raid instance that can only be accessed with the South Horn field operation. Although no main story content is locked behind the Forked Tower: Blood, which takes its name from a late-game dungeon in Final Fantasy 5, it offers both challenging encounters and bonus rewards for players that overcome its challenges, including the exclusive Demon Haul mount. However, the Forked Tower: Blood raid was criticized for its reliance on battle mechanics that could severely punish entire raid teams if a single player made a mistake.

Final Fantasy 14’s Forked Tower Raid Will Be More Accessible To New Challengers

Days after Final Fantasy 14 launched Patch 7.38 to address some issues with the Pilgrim’s Traverse deep dungeon, Square Enix provided some added details about its future plans for Dawntrail‘s latter patches. Starting with the Patch 7.4 series, Square Enix will adjust the Forked Tower: Blood raid to make it more accessible to future challengers. As of this writing, it is currently unclear what the extent of these proposed changes to the current Forked Tower raid will be, or when they will be released to live servers. The proposed change will be coupled with the confirmed addition of new Occult Crescent accessories and three new Phantom Jobs (Dancer, Gladiator, and Mystic Knight).

In response to player feedback and criticism, Final Fantasy 14 made some changes in July that allowed pre-formed parties to queue into the Occult Crescent field operation and enter the Forked Tower: Blood raid faster than before. Square Enix previously confirmed that a second Forked Tower raid, titled Forked Tower: Magic, will arrive in 2026. Thanks to player feedback, the second Forked Tower raid will have Normal and Savage difficulty options available from the start, giving players more content to take on before Final Fantasy 14‘s next expansion goes live.

Final Fantasy 14‘s 7.4 update, Into The Mist, launches on Tuesday, December 16, and includes more main story quests and the finale of the Arcadion raid series. Only time will tell how receptive players will be to the Forked Tower’s upcoming changes.
