Xiaomi has only just wrapped up the launch cycle for the Xiaomi 17 series in China, and it already looks like the company isn’t done yet. A new leak suggests Xiaomi is testing another phone under the Xiaomi 17 lineup, hinting at a quiet expansion of the series sometime next year.
This comes soon after the debut of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, which joined the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max that launched back in September.
A Minor Refresh, Not a Whole New Direction
According to the leak by prominent tipster Digital Chat Station, the upcoming Xiaomi 17 series phone appears to be a minor refresh rather than a completely new model. The device is said to be under internal testing and could feature a large flat display, measuring either 6.8 inches or 6.9 inches, with slim and symmetrical bezels.
That puts it very close to the display size of the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, which already sits at the upper end of Xiaomi’s flagship lineup. From what’s been shared so far, this new device doesn’t seem to be a major redesign but more of an incremental update.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 And Periscope Camera Tipped
The most notable detail from the leak is the chipset. The phone is expected to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, placing it firmly in flagship territory.
Alongside the new chip, the device is also tipped to feature a periscope telephoto camera. That combination already exists on the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, which suggests this upcoming phone could share a lot of its core hardware while making small refinements elsewhere.
For now, details around the camera sensors, battery size, and charging speeds remain unknown.
Possible Launch Timeline
The leak claims that this new Xiaomi 17 series phone could launch in the first half of 2026. That’s still a fair distance away, and given how limited the information is right now, it makes sense to treat this as an early signal rather than a confirmed product roadmap.
