LEGO has released a new Retro Gaming Console set that supports three distinctive build configurations while costing under $20. The new kit is part of LEGO‘s ever-growing Creator 3-in-1 theme.

Creator 3-in-1 is a line of rebuildable LEGO sets that are focused on play and display in equal measure. They are generally not tied to a specific IP and almost always consist of generic bricks that can be reused, underlining their multi-configuration design. Dozens of products have been released under the Creator 3-in-1 label since it was first used in 2006.

One of LEGO’s Most Popular Adult Themes Is Reportedly Getting New Sets in March 2026

LEGO’s immensely popular Botanical Collection is reportedly getting at least two new sets in March 2026, according to some newly leaked information.

Latest LEGO Creator Set Is a Retro Gaming Console or Three

The latest addition to this longtime LEGO theme is 31380 Retro Gaming Console, which officially hit the market on January 1. As is typical for Creator 3-in-1 sets, it supports three distinct builds but includes enough pieces to complete only one at a time, encouraging rebuilding. The supported designs include a standing arcade cabinet, a handheld gaming console, and a desktop PC. The set is deliberately abstract, using visual shorthand and color blocking to evoke familiar gaming motifs rather than trying to replicate real-world devices. It is now available for purchase via LEGO’s official website and Amazon, as well as participating distributors.

At 268 pieces, 31380 Retro Gaming Console is on the smaller end of the LEGO set size spectrum. The low piece count is also reflected in its price tag, which sits at only $19.99. While the retro gaming subject matter may be primarily appealing to older LEGO fans, the build complexity on offer here has been rated as suitable for ages eight and up. All three builds supported by the kit share the same dark blue body, bright orange accent colors, and stud-based “pixel” screens rather than relying on printed tiles in the vein of the lenticular screens that LEGO printed for its popular Game Boy set.

    • Set no.: 31380
    • Price: $19.99

    • Age rating: 8+
    • Release date: January 1, 2026
    • Retailers: LEGO.com, Amazon

When built in its handheld configuration, the Retro Gaming Console features two movable analog sticks and just as many functional triggers. This configuration also includes three distinct cartridges, each depicting a different game on the display side and designed to be inserted into the console. Each build is estimated to take under 30 minutes to complete. Based on LEGO’s typical product cycles, 31380 Retro Gaming Console is expected to remain available for at least one year. Continued availability beyond that will likely depend on how well it sells throughout 2026.

31380 Retro Gaming Console does not include any LEGO minifigures, which is to be expected for a sub-$20 set. Its release coincides with several ongoing “Gift with Purchase” LEGO promotions, including 30712 Celebration Cake, 40779 Year of the Horse, and 40913 Vintage Parade Car. While all are available through January 11 or while supplies last, qualifying for them requires purchases well above the Retro Gaming Console’s price. Specifically, Celebration Cake is offered with purchases of $40 or more, while Year of the Horse and Vintage Parade Car require minimum spends of $70 and $200, respectively.

Retro Gaming Console is far from the only LEGO set that launched with the advent of 2026. Other January 1 releases include 42221 NASA Artemis Space Launch System Rocket, 75441 Star Wars Venator-Class Attack Cruiser, and a LEGO botanical wave spanning 11501 Tulip Bouquet, 11504 Peace Lily, 11508 Daisies, and 11509 Flowering Cactus. There’s also another flagship Ninjago set in the form of 71861 The Old Town 15th Anniversary, a $299.99 set with 4,851 pieces and a whopping 23 minifigures that LEGO is positioning as a celebration of Ninjago’s 15-year history.
