Realme appears to be lining up its next mid-range 5G phone for India. The Realme 16 5G has now been spotted on the BIS certification database, which usually signals that an official launch isn’t too far away.

Realme 16 5G Clears BIS Certification: Check Expected India Launch

The phone has already launched in Vietnam, and all signs point to the Indian version carrying the same hardware. The BIS listing is the clearest indicator yet that Realme is preparing to bring the device to the Indian market soon.

    BIS listing confirms the model

The BIS certification, spotted by TheTechOutlook, lists the model number RMX5171 under the Realme brand. The approval was granted on January 14, 2026. While the BIS site itself doesn’t mention the product name, this model number has already been linked to the Realme 16 5G through earlier leaks.

These are the colour and storage variants of the upcoming Realme 16 5G for the Indian market:

Tipster Abhishek Yadav previously shared memory and color details for the Indian variant and also confirmed RMX5171 as the model number. The same model number shows up on the Google Play Console supported devices list with the Realme 16 5G name, which helps clear up any remaining doubt about the phone’s identity.

Expected configurations and colors in India

Based on earlier information, Realme is expected to launch the phone in two variants in India. Buyers should see an 8GB RAM with 128GB storage option and a higher-end 12GB RAM with 256GB storage model.

Color choices for the Indian market are tipped to include Air Black and Air White. These align with what Realme has already introduced in other regions.

Hardware highlights from the global launch

Since the phone is already official in Vietnam, we have a clear picture of what the Indian model is likely to offer. The Realme 16 5G features a 6.57-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 2372 × 1080 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Realme claims a 93 percent screen-to-body ratio, along with up to 240Hz touch sampling.

Brightness figures go up to 1000 nits under normal use, 1400 nits in high brightness mode, and a peak of 4200 nits. The display is protected by DT Star D+ glass.

On the camera side, the phone uses a 50MP Sony IMX852 main sensor paired with a 2MP monochrome camera. There’s also a built-in selfie mirror integrated into the camera bar, with the LED flash running around its edge. Up front, the phone packs a 50MP selfie camera with an 86-degree field of view. Camera features include LumaColor processing and AI Edit Genie tools aimed at quick photo edits.

    Performance, battery, and durability

The Realme 16 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 Turbo chipset. It’s paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, with support for microSD expansion and USB OTG. Software duties are handled by realme UI 7.0.

One of the bigger talking points here is the battery. The phone packs a 7000mAh typical battery, rated at 6830mAh, with support for 60W fast charging and wired reverse charging. Thermal management is handled by a 6050mm² vapor chamber.

Realme is also leaning hard on durability this time. The device carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, suggesting a strong focus on dust and water resistance.

    Launch Timeline

There’s no official launch date yet, but based on the certification timeline, a February launch wouldn’t be surprising.
