Yao Guang is a mix of support and Sub-DPS in Honkai: Star Rail. Her ability to trigger Aha Instants allows her to become a must-have character for players looking to build an Elation team. For that reason, this guide will provide the best HSR teams for Yao Guang.

Honkai: Star Rail always has two cycles of active Warp Banners, and here’s everything players need to know about them.
Yao Guang Best Teams In Honkai Star Rail
Yao Guang mostly works in Elation teams because of her HSR path. However, some teams can utilize her Talent, which adds a small Elation DMG to their attacks. Here are the best teams for Yao Guang in Honkai: Star Rail.
- Yao Guang Premium Team: Yao Guang + Sparxie + Sparkle + Huohuo
- Yao Guang F2P Team: Yao Guang + Archer + Sparkle + Dan Heng PT
Yao Guang + Sparxie + Sparkle + Huohuo
This team revolves heavily around the Elation synergy between Yao Guang and Sparxie in Honkai: Star Rail. Yao Guang can continuously trigger Aha Instants with her Ultimate, enabling Sparxie to deal her massive Elation DMG over and over again. She also greatly buffs the team’s Elation while increasing their overall stats through her kit and build. Basically, Yao Guang is a must-have in any HSR Elation team. On the other hand, Sparxie operates as the team’s DPS, where she channels all the team’s buffs into her attacks to deal an absurd amount of DMG. Literally, this Sparxie, Yao Guang, and Sparkle team is starting a new era of DMG in Honkai: Star Rail.
While Sparxie can work well with other Harmony or Nihility units in Honkai: Star Rail, Sparkle is her best buffer. Without Sparkle, Sparxie relies heavily on her Elation Skill to deal DMG, and the team needs to prepare the field by building up Skill Points for her turn. Sparkle’s ability to greatly regenerate the team’s Skill Points and increase its maximum capacity solves that issue, allowing Sparxie to shine with both her Skill and Elation attacks.
You can replace Sparkle with Cipher, who greatly increases her team’s DMG while she records it. The amount she records can reach crazy numbers since it also records the team’s Elation DMG between Yao Guang and Sparxie. Then, Cipher can unleash her Ultimate to delete bosses with millions of HP.
Finally, since this team relies on Yao Guang triggering her Ultimate to enable more Elation Skills, adding a character like Huohuo helps sustain the team and regenerate its energy. Not to mention, her ATK% buff can also make it easier to build Sparxie, as players don’t need to reach the 3600 ATK-ceiling to maximize the Elation she gets from her Trace passive.
Yao Guang + Archer + Sparkle + Dan Heng PT
Yao Guang can’t really support any units outside the Elation path. Her kit makes her look like she can support other DPS characters in Honkai: Star Rail by enabling them to deal Elation DMG, but it’s not enough to compete with other supports that can do a better job supporting those DPS units. The only support she can really provide is through her build and kit buffs, like the 20% Type RES PEN on her Ultimate.
The Elation DMG dealt by the non-Elation characters will scale with her own Elation DMG, so the numbers aren’t bad. However, the frequency of the Elation DMG done is insufficient to make a non-Elation team around Yao Guang. Yao Guang’s Talent works best with characters that heavily rely on their Skill to deal DMG, as using Skill Points will cause her Elation DMG to trigger twice. This part helps her perform slightly better with non-Elation characters who can abuse Skill Points.
Dan Heng Permansor Terrae Team Composition Guide In Honkai Star Rail
Dan Heng Permansor Terrae gives a summon to the Bondmate in Honkai: Star Rail, so it’s a good idea to work with summoning skills and builds.
For example, on a full build, let’s say Yao Guang deals around 20k to 30k DMG on every attack. So, matching her with a character that attacks once with their Skill will give them 40k to 60k extra DMG, while those who focus on Basic ATK will only get 20k to 30k. But, if a character like Archer attacks four or five times, Yao Guang’s extra attacks will accumulate to 200k or 300k extra DMG.
You can use this idea for other characters that deal DMG frequently. For example, follow-up attack units like Yunli, who hits via counters, can accumulate Yao Guang’s DMG too. However, it’s still better to bring other supports instead of Yao Guang, as the extra DMG from the Seer General is not comparable to how much DMG Yunli can deal with proper supports.
In order for Archer to keep using his Skill, he needs a character like Sparkle, who can regenerate the team’s Skill Points. Then, Archer can spend them all on his back-to-back Skill attacks. Additionally, Dan Heng PT is a very SP-friendly unit who can complete an entire battle without consuming one Skill Point.
