Lava Shark 2 5G Launches With 120Hz Screen, IP64 Rating, and 5G Support

Lava has launched the Shark 2 5G in India, expanding its budget smartphone lineup with a device that focuses heavily on battery life, clean software, and everyday usability.

Priced at ₹11,999, the new phone will be available through Lava retail outlets starting June 10. The company says this is its first smartphone under ₹15,000 to feature a 6000mAh battery paired with 18W fast charging.

Lava Shark 2 5G Specifications

The Lava Shark 2 5G comes with a 6.75-inch HD+ display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, the device runs on the octa-core 6nm UNISOC T8200 processor. Lava claims the phone crosses 500,000 on the AnTuTu v11 benchmark, which suggests it should handle regular multitasking, social media apps, and casual gaming without major issues.

The phone is available in a 4GB RAM and 64GB storage configuration, along with support for an additional 4GB of virtual RAM.

The Battery Looks Like The Main Selling Point

The biggest talking point here is clearly the battery.

Lava says the 6000mAh unit can deliver over 13 hours of YouTube playback and more than 12 hours of screen-on time.

For people who mainly care about battery backup over camera hardware or gaming performance, that alone could make the Shark 2 5G appealing in this price category.

The phone also supports 18W fast charging.

Clean Android And IP64 Rating Stand Out

Software is another area where Lava seems to be trying to differentiate itself.

The Shark 2 5G runs on Clean Android 16 without ads or pre-installed bloatware, which is honestly becoming harder to find in the budget segment.

Lava is also promising one Android update and two years of security updates.

On the durability side, the phone carries an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance, which is still relatively uncommon around this price point.

Cameras And Availability

For cameras, the Shark 2 5G includes a 13MP AI rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera.

The phone will launch in two colors: Sonar Gold and Arya Blue.

Lava is also continuing its Free Service@Home support, where customers can get after-sales assistance at home instead of visiting service centers.
