Tecno is expanding its design-focused smartphone portfolio in India with the upcoming POVA 8 Pro. Scheduled for a debut on August 18, it follows the POVA 8 launch from June. This premium addition departs from safe design templates to deliver a highly distinctive visual look.

At the heart of this visual transformation is the innovative “Alive Matrix Display” built on the rear. Rather than keeping the back panel plain, this setup serves as an active visual board. It features customisable illumination patterns and dynamic notifications that are visible across a physical room.

The Room Notices Aesthetic

This layout represents Tecno’s “Room Notices” design philosophy. The framework focuses on building electronic devices with high physical visibility. By utilizing the back panel, the device offers daily utility even when face-down. This setup makes the phone highly recognisable from a distance. The design ensures the phone does not blend in with standard black boxes.

This bold style is intentionally distinct from standard, low-profile smartphones. The prioritisation of prominent visual markers aims to capture interest in busy social settings. Instead of blending in, the phone is a conversation starter. It uses modern materials to construct a unique, futuristic style.

Pova 8 Pro 5G Specifications: What to Expect

The Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G is listed globally with a 6.78-inch HyperLux AMOLED display featuring a 1,208 x 2,644-pixel resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, 429ppi pixel density and up to 4,500 nits peak brightness. The panel supports 1.07 billion colours and offers a 93.18 percent screen-to-body ratio.

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chipset, featuring an octa-core CPU with a peak clock speed of up to 2.6GHz and an Arm Mali-G615 MC2 GPU. It is offered with 8GB or 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage, with configurations including 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB.

For photography, the Pova 8 Pro 5G features a 50-megapixel primary rear camera with OIS, paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. A 13-megapixel front camera handles selfies and video calls.

The phone packs a 6,500mAh battery with 45W wired fast charging and features an under-display fingerprint scanner. It runs Android 16-based HiOS 16 and measures 162.48 x 77.27 x 7.39mm while weighing around 189g. Globally, it is available in Arc White, Graphite Black and Tundra Green.
