Apple’s next iPhone cycle may look very different from the familiar September refresh. Fresh supply-chain comments have strengthened expectations that Apple will prioritise the iPhone 18 Pro models in late 2026, while pushing the standard iPhone 18 to early 2027.
The latest signal reportedly came from Pegatron, one of Apple’s manufacturing partners. Executives are said to have indicated during an earnings call that high-end models remain on the autumn schedule, but lower-priced iPhones are moving into the first quarter of 2027.

Why the iPhone 18 Launch May be Split
The shift would fit months of reports from analysts and supply-chain watchers. The expected 2026 line-up now appears centred on the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone, often referred to as iPhone Ultra in leaks.
The standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and a new iPhone Air model are expected later. That would give Apple two major iPhone sales windows instead of concentrating the entire family around September, as it has usually done.
Component availability may be one reason. Reports point to pressure around memory and chips, forcing brands to manage inventories more carefully. For Apple, giving priority to premium iPhones would also make commercial sense because Pro models typically deliver stronger margins.
What it Means for Buyers in India
For Indian customers, the practical takeaway is simple. Anyone waiting for the standard iPhone 18 may need to hold off until 2027, while buyers looking at the Pro range could still see new options around Apple’s usual September window.
Apple has not announced the iPhone 18 series, the foldable model or any launch dates. That means pricing, India availability and exact configurations remain unconfirmed. The company also does not comment on unreleased products.
If the split launch happens, it would mark one of Apple’s biggest changes to the iPhone calendar in years. It may also make the 2026 event more premium-focused, leaving mainstream upgrades for a separate launch cycle in 2027.
