Samsung One UI 9 Update Based on Android 17 Rolls Out to Galaxy S25, S24, S23 Series and Older Foldables

Samsung has started expanding its Android 17-based One UI 9 update beyond its latest flagship devices. Following its debut on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8, the update has now reached the Galaxy S26 series and is expanding to several older Galaxy smartphones, foldables and tablets.

Samsung One UI 9 Eligible Galaxy Devices

The latest rollout includes the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 FE. Samsung is also extending One UI 9 to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip7, Z Fold 6, Z Flip6, Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5.

On the tablet side, the update covers the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, Tab S11, Tab S10 Ultra, Tab S10 Plus, Tab S9 Ultra, Tab S9 Plus and Tab S9. The rollout is phased, so availability can vary depending on the model, market and carrier. Samsung has also indicated that the list will expand to additional Galaxy devices.

One UI 9 Features and Galaxy AI Improvements

One UI 9 brings a wider selection of Galaxy AI features, camera tools and device-management improvements. One of the new additions is My FanCam, which automatically tracks a selected person in a video and keeps them centred in the frame.

Samsung is also introducing expanded Now Brief functionality and Now Nudge, while Creative Studio gets new tools for creating personalised content. The updated Interpreter is designed to make conversations easier across supported languages.

Other additions include improvements to Document Scan and Voice Recorder, along with a new Warranty and Care section within Settings for easier device management.

One UI 9 Adds New Privacy and Security Tools

Security also receives attention with Privacy Alerts, which use on-device AI to identify potential privacy risks, including unnecessary background permission access. Samsung is also expanding Scam Detection to additional countries and languages, including India.

For Galaxy users with eligible devices, One UI 9 represents a significant software upgrade, bringing several of Samsung’s latest AI, productivity and security features to older hardware. However, the exact rollout timing will continue to vary by device and region as Samsung expands the update in phases.
