Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max Launched with Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, Dual 200MP Cameras, HyperOS 4

Xiaomi has launched the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max in China, bringing its latest flagship hardware, Leica cameras, large silicon-carbon batteries and a secondary rear display to the premium smartphone segment. Both models are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform and run HyperOS 4 out of the box.

The phones also introduce hardware-level privacy features, dedicated AI controls and expanded rear-screen functionality. The standard Xiaomi 18 has not been launched yet and is expected to arrive separately later this year.

Xiaomi 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max Price and Availability

The Xiaomi 18 Pro starts at 5,999 yuan (approximately Rs 85,720) in China, while the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max starts at 6,999 yuan (approximately Rs 1,00,010). The complete pricing is as follows:

Xiaomi has not yet confirmed India-specific pricing or availability. The company has indicated that a global launch will take place later this year, but details about which markets will receive the Pro and Pro Max models remain unclear.

Xiaomi 18 Pro Series Display and Design

The Xiaomi 18 Pro features a 6.4-inch OLED display, while the 18 Pro Max gets a larger 6.9-inch panel. Both screens use SuperPixel 2.0 and M11 display technology, with a 1Hz-120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, 12-bit colour, HDR10+, Dolby Vision and up to 4,000 nits peak brightness.

Xiaomi has reduced the bezels to just 0.99mm on all four sides using a new screen packaging process. Both phones also feature a micro-arc quad-curved frame.

A major highlight is the secondary rear display. The Xiaomi 18 Pro has a 2.7-inch rear AMOLED screen with a 912 x 596-pixel resolution, while the Pro Max gets a 2.9-inch panel with a 976 x 596-pixel resolution. Both support 120Hz refresh rates, DC dimming and up to 4,000 nits brightness.

The phones are available in Black, White, Purple and Green, along with Transparent Edition models featuring a red transparent rear panel.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and Battery

The Xiaomi 18 Pro series is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, built on a 2nm process. Xiaomi claims CPU speeds of up to 5.0GHz, alongside a 35% increase in GPU performance, 40% lower GPU power consumption and an 80% improvement in NPU inference performance.

For cooling, Xiaomi uses a redesigned ring-shaped cold pump system and OFFSET PoP high-thermal-conductivity packaging.

Battery capacity is another major difference between the two models. The Xiaomi 18 Pro packs a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, while the Pro Max gets a huge 8,500mAh battery. Both feature 32% silicon content, 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, magnetic charging and 27W reverse charging.

Leica 200MP Triple Camera Setup

Both smartphones feature a triple rear camera system co-engineered with Leica. The primary camera is a 200MP Light Hunter 960-series sensor with a Leica Summilux lens, f/1.67 aperture and Hyper OIS.

It is paired with a 50MP ultrawide camera offering a 102-degree field of view and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with a 75mm equivalent focal length, OIS and 12cm telemacro capability.

The camera system supports 8K video recording and 4K video at up to 120fps. A 50MP front camera handles selfies and video calls, with support for 4K 60fps recording.

Xiaomi’s new Legendary Moment imaging system combines on-device processing with cloud-based processing to enhance image output. AI features can also recommend shooting locations, analyse composition, match filters and provide portrait guidance.

HyperOS 4 and AI Features

Both phones run HyperOS 4 and feature Super Xiao Ai 2.0, Xiaomi’s AI assistant powered by its MiMo foundation model. It can remember information, plan tasks and perform multi-step actions across supported apps and devices.

The rear display supports more than 100 app cards, including notifications, widgets, games and AI-generated apps. Users can also create personalised AI wallpapers using photos of pets, people or objects.

Another notable addition is hardware-level intelligent privacy protection, which narrows the viewing angle to make sensitive information harder for people nearby to see. Users can also create app-specific privacy rules, while selected notifications and multitasking previews can be automatically obscured.

The phones feature a dedicated physical AI button, which can also be configured to activate privacy mode.

Other Xiaomi 18 Pro Series Features

Both models include an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor, NFC, UWB, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, USB Type-C audio and dual-SIM 5G. They also support GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, Beidou and NavIC.

Both carry IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. The Xiaomi 18 Pro measures 151.8 x 72 x 8.46mm and weighs 203g, while the Pro Max measures 163.39 x 77.6 x 8.39mm and weighs 235g.

The Pro Max additionally features a triple-stereo speaker system, while both models support Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio and a four-microphone array.
