Google has confirmed that Android 17 Beta 1 is coming soon, officially kicking off the next Android beta cycle.

The update follows the release of the final Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2.1 patch and signals Google’s transition from quarterly platform refinements to its next major Android version.
Android 17 Beta 1 Expected Features
Android 17 Beta 1 is built on top of the Android 16 QPR platform release. At this stage, Google says the focus is on bug fixes and improvements to overall system stability and performance rather than introducing headline features.
🚨 Android 17 Beta 1 is coming soon
📅 Expected: Mid-Late February
Pixel users enrolled in the Beta Program will receive it OTA automatically.

However, based on early leaks, Android 17 could lean more into visual polish this year. Leaks point to heavier use of UI blur and layered effects, similar to Apple’s new Liquid Glass look in iOS 26.
There’s also talk of separating notifications from Quick Settings and adding app support to the always-on display, which could make quick interactions more useful.
How to Get the Android 17 Beta 1 Update
If your phone is already enrolled in the Android Beta Program, you don’t need to sign up again or manually trigger anything. Once Android 17 Beta 1 goes live, the update will be delivered automatically as an over-the-air update.
In short:
- Stay enrolled in the beta program
- Wait for the OTA notification
- Install Android 17 Beta 1 like a regular system update
Doing nothing keeps you on the beta track and moves your device straight into Android 17 testing.
If you’re not already part of the Android Beta Program, enrollment is still straightforward. Here’s how:
- Sign in with your Google account to see which of your devices are eligible
- Select the device you want to enroll
- Choose the Android beta program you want to join
- Accept the Android Beta Program terms
- Wait for the beta update to arrive as an OTA on your device
- Share feedback directly from your phone or through the Android Beta Program Reddit community
Android 17 Eligible Phones
Google hasn’t listed specific models in this announcement.

However, based on previous beta rollouts and current Pixel support timelines, the following devices are expected to be eligible for Android 17 beta updates:
- Pixel 10 series: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Pixel 10a
- Pixel 9 series: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 9a
- Pixel 8 series: Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a
- Pixel 7 series: Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold
- Pixel 6 series: Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a
As usual, final eligibility depends on Google’s official rollout and beta enrollment status, but this list lines up with how Pixel support has worked in recent Android beta cycles.
Android 17 Release
Google has confirmed that Android 17’s platform release is internally tracked as “26Q2,” pointing to a second-quarter 2026 window for the stable public version.
While the dessert codename hasn’t been officially revealed yet, earlier reporting suggests it’s called “Cinnamon Bun.”
