Google Pixel 10a vs Pixel 10 vs Pixel 10 Pro: What’s Different?
The Google Pixel 10 and 10 Pro feature identical builds and more or less the same design. Both phones feature Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on the front and back with an aluminum frame and an IP68 rating for resistance to dust and water.
The Pixel 10a makes a few compromises, opting for Gorilla Glass 7i protection on the front and a plastic rear panel. It retains the aluminum frame and IP68 rating. The Pixel 10a features the same design as the Pixel 9a, with the two rear cameras integrated into the rear panel rather than protruding out from it.
All three phones feature 120Hz OLED displays, although the screen on the Pixel 10 Pro offers slightly higher levels of brightness than its more affordable siblings. Additionally, the LTPO panel on the Pixel 10 Pro also offers an adaptive refresh rate (1Hz to 120Hz) and boasts a higher resolution. Finally, the Pixel 10a has thicker bezels, offering lesser screen real estate.
We haven’t really tested out the Pixel 10a, although it does feature an older Tensor G4 chip, the same one used on the Pixel 9 series. This will give the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro a clear advantage in CPU, GPU, and AI performance over the Pixel 10a. Finally, the Pixel 10 Pro does outperform the Pixel 10 by a small margin, although the former features more RAM.
In terms of battery capacity, the Pixel 10a boasts the largest cell, but only by a small margin. All three phones feature similar wired charging speeds, although the Pixel 10a’s 10W wireless charging is slower than the 15W on the Pixel 10 and 10 Pro.

For comparison, the Pixel 10 has an updated triple-rear camera setup, which includes a 48MP primary sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and OIS, a 13MP ultrawide lens with a 120˚ FOV, and a 10.8MP telephoto shooter with OIS and 5x optical zoom. Up front, the Pixel 10 opts for a 10.5MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture and PDAF.
Finally, the Pixel 10a features a 48MP primary camera sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and OIS as well as a 13MP ultrawide lens with an f/2.2 aperture and a 120˚ FOV. Up front, the Pixel 10a opts for a 13MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture and no autofocus.
In terms of videography, all three phones support 4K video at 60fps on both the front and rear cameras, although the Pixel 10 Pro can record 8K video at 30fps.
The Pixel 10 lineup clearly differentiates itself through camera priorities. The Pixel 10 Pro stands out as the undisputed imaging powerhouse, offering the most versatile hardware with a high-resolution ultrawide, a 5x periscope telephoto, a large autofocus-enabled selfie camera, and exclusive 8K video recording, making it ideal for photography enthusiasts and content creators.
The Pixel 10 strikes a solid balance, retaining a capable 5x telephoto and reliable imaging performance while scaling back sensor sizes to keep things more accessible. Meanwhile, the Pixel 10a focuses on essentials, delivering strong primary camera performance and dependable 4K video, but skipping autofocus on the front camera and telephoto versatility.
Overall, Google caters well to different user needs, from casual shooters to serious mobile photographers. Additionally, despite Google’s computational photography, software alone can’t fully make up for hardware limitations.
