Apple is said to be weighing a major shift in its iPhone timetable, with reports suggesting the base iPhone 18 may not appear alongside Pro and Pro Max models in 2026, as component constraints, including an ongoing memory shortage, pressure production planning.
Industry sources claim Apple is exploring a new pattern where the spotlight in September 2026 falls on top-end devices only. The iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and its first foldable iPhone are expected to headline that launch window.

Apple May Skip the iPhone 18 in 2027
The regular iPhone 18 is instead rumoured to slip into early 2027, rather than join the September 2026 event. Reports and rumours also suggest that the iPhone 17e could share that later stage, creating a staggered calendar that spreads major iPhone 18 announcements.
This possible reshuffle is linked by analysts to tight memory supplies facing the wider tech industry. By prioritising higher-priced models first, Apple could allocate limited components more carefully, while using the extended gap before the standard iPhone 18 to stabilise sourcing and manufacturing pipelines.
These claims, however, remain unverified by Apple, which has not announced any official change to its annual iPhone schedule. Observers therefore view the suggested iPhone 18 timing, and talk of a foldable iPhone, as informed speculation that may shift as 2026 approaches.
In the same, Apple reported that its ecosystem now includes about 2.5 billion active devices worldwide, covering iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and more. The company also delivered record quarterly revenue of $143.7 billion in Q1 2026. Read our previous story to learn more about this.
