Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 9 was easily among the best that the series has produced so far. For once, the anime’s focus was on the emotional side of things. The episode started off with Sung Jinwoo collecting Baran’s soul, which was the last ingredient needed to craft the Elixir of Life.

When he opened the menu to craft, a prompt appeared informing him that the procedure’s success depended on his intellect. For a minute, Sung Jinwoo panicked, as failure would mean that all of his hard work would be wasted, and his mother would never wake up from Eternal Sleep.

Taking A Risk To Save His Mother

Due to the lack of options, Sung Jinwoo went ahead with the procedure anyway, and thankfully, it was successful. Before exiting the dungeon, Sung Jinwoo gained two new abilities:

Kaisel, a new Shadow born from the wyvern’s corpse
The ability to switch places with a shadow

Kaisel is going to be an excellent addition to his army, as it will allow the hero to cover large distances in a matter of minutes. Kaisel will also enable Sung Jinwoo to fight aerial enemies. Sung Jinwoo didn’t waste time using the new ability to return to his city. Shortly after his arrival, he used Kaisel to fly to the hospital where his mother was being kept.

However, Sung Jinwoo received a call from the Hunter Association and was likely asked to report immediately. So, he went there without any further ado. Inside, he sat down with Go Gunhee, who explained the plans for the upcoming raid on Jeju Island. In fact, it looked like he was going to turn down the offer because he wanted to spend more time with his mother and sister.

Even though they already have more than 10 S-rank Hunters, it doesn’t mean that they will be successful.

Sung Jinwoo’s Shadows are super strong, and they could very likely handle the lesser ants. Additionally, they cannot die, which makes them a better fit for fighting against hordes of ants. If Sung Jinwoo rejects the offer, the raid group will have no choice but to go on without him.
