Jujutsu Kaisen has cemented itself as one of the greatest action anime series of all time. Gege Akutami, the creator of this series, has crafted a stunning blend of incredible lore and high-octane action, featuring various exciting battles. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 just finished airing and delivered even more exciting battles, such as the Zenin Massacre as well as the Sendai Colony Battle. While JJK is almost unbeatable when it comes to action, there are quite a few series that go on to rival it in this aspect, and some that outright outdo it.
One Piece: 9 Strongest Characters From Joy Boy’s Era, Ranked
Joy Boy’s era had many powerful characters. These are the strongest known from that era in One Piece.
Naruto
While Jujutsu Kaisen has amazing action, not many would say that it’s better in any way than the king of action anime, Naruto. Naruto has made itself stand out from the rest of the shonen action series with its highly captivating chakra system and battle style.
While the battles are amazing in the manga, the anime has only served to enhance them with its fluid animation. In Naruto, some of the most iconic fights that fans consider to be among the very best include the likes of Naruto vs Pain, the fated clash of brothers, as well as both of Naruto Uzumaki’s battles against Sasuke Uchiha. Even the smaller battles in the Naruto series, such as Sasuke vs Deidara, or Kakashi Vs Kakuzu, feature action the likes of which cannot be matched by many series out there.
Dragon Ball
Dragon Ball is considered by many to be the father of shonen anime. That is because the Dragon Ball series has inspired many anime that came after it. Akira Toriyama created a series that has especially inspired action anime, including Jujutsu Kaisen.
If there is one thing that Dragon Ball is known for, it’s the intense battles. Akira Toriyama managed to create the perfect formula for creating an exciting battle with amazing choreography. Fights like Goku vs Frieza were a global phenomenon when they first came out. Iconic battles from the Dragon Ball series also include Goku vs. Buu and Goku vs Vegeta. Even the battles that took place decades ago in the Dragon Ball series are still hyped up now in 2026.
Solo Leveling
Solo Leveling is quite a recent addition to the roster of incredible action-based anime series. This series definitely blew away anime viewers when it made its debut in 2024 with its first anime season. In Season 1 of Solo Leveling, A-1 Pictures delivered some incredible fights, like Sung Jinwoo vs Igris. However, what made Solo Leveling stand out from the rest and become one of the best action anime of the modern era is its second season, when Jinwoo took on the Ant King.
This battle, which concluded the second season has gone down in history as one of the best pieces of action. Solo Leveling definitely rivals JJK in action, and forward with its third season and more, it will go on to deliver even more incredible action as Jinwoo continues to grow.
Hunter x Hunter
Hunter x Hunter is a legendary manga and anime series by Togashi. While Togashi is generally more focused on character arcs than battles, Hunter x Hunter still delivers some of the best action. Unlike some other anime series, battles in Hunter x Hunter aren’t just flashy action. Hunter x Hunter’s battles and choreographies are very well structured and generally make a lot of sense, with strict rules to adhere to. In Hunter x Hunter, the most iconic battle is definitely Meruem vs Netero, but there are also many other exciting battles just waiting to be animated.
Bleach
Jujutsu Kaisen has taken a lot of inspiration from various older anime and manga series. However, the biggest inspiration when creating this series for Gege Akutami was undoubtedly Kubo’s Bleach. Many elements that make the JJK series as exciting as it is were taken from this story.
For instance, the Domain Expansions which deliver the biggest hype in JJK were directly inspired by Bleach’s Bankai. Bleach’s influence is still immense, and the fights that it showcases can still rival or even surpass those featured in Jujutsu Kaisen. The most iconic battle from the Bleach series is undoubtedly Ichigo Kurosaki Vs Byakuya Kuchiki.
8 Best Water Users in Anime, Ranked
Water is a very versatile element to manipulate, and numerous anime characters incorporate this ability brilliantly in their arsenal.
Fate
The Fate series is an expansive franchise that has been a major hit globally, but is especially popular in Japan. The Fate series has an interesting story, but what makes it as popular as it is today are the stunning battles, coupled with some of the best animation seen in modern anime.
The Fate series has no shortage of impressive fighting choreography. In Heaven’s Feel, Saber Alter vs. Rider/Berserker stands out as iconic, and in Unlimited Blade Works, Shirou vs. Archer set the standard. From Fate Zero, Kiritsugu vs. Kirei remains as one of the most renowned battles of all time. If there is one series that almost objectively has better action than JJK, it would definitely be Fate.

Demon Slayer
Just like Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer is more of a new-gen anime series, having made its debut in 2019. With that being said, both Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer are heavily action-based series, even though they also have interesting plots surrounding the fights. While Jujutsu Kaisen had the edge for a while, the recent Infinity Castle movie made Demon Slayer stand out even more.
The battles like Akaza vs Tanjiro and Giyuu have become some of the most acclaimed ones in all of anime, with stunning action that was only enhanced through the anime adaptation. Of course, Demon Slayer had other incredibly iconic battles even before that, the most notable one being Tengen vs Gyutaro.
Chainsaw Man Reze Arc
Chainsaw Man is another new iconic anime franchise, and while it has never been as popular as Jujutsu Kaisen, the recent Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc movie propelled it to fame globally. Not only was the story of the movie insanely captivating, but it also had one of the craziest battles seen in 2025.
Denji vs The Bomb Devil Reze has become an iconic battle and the stunning animation and direction by MAPPA Studio have elevated it to the utmost best level. When it comes to big movie battles, JJK has definitely been one-upped by the likes of Chainsaw Man, and there doesn’t seem to be any competition here in this department. What’s more, as more of Chainsaw Man is adapted, the series is sure to deliver even more exciting battles, especially if the movie format continues. Jujutsu Kaisen might have a better power system, but when it comes to action, Chainsaw Man pulled in the top-tier animators that delivered stunning action the likes of which has never been seen before.
