Mivi is preparing to enter India’s smartphone market with its first handset, expanding beyond its established audio business. The upcoming phone is expected to target the budget segment and will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset.
The company has already teased the smartphone on Flipkart, but its name, launch date and complete specifications are yet to be revealed. A new report has now provided an indication of its expected price.
Mivi Phone Price and Expected Features
According to a 91Mobiles report citing industry sources, Mivi’s first smartphone is expected to launch in the sub-Rs. 15,000 segment. The final price has not been confirmed yet.
The report also claims that the handset is likely to support 5G connectivity. Mivi has confirmed the use of a Snapdragon processor, although the specific chipset remains unknown.
A Flipkart teaser has revealed the phone’s design, showing a green colour option and a flat rear panel with rounded corners. The handset is also expected to be sold through Flipkart in India. Details about the display, cameras, battery, RAM and storage remain undisclosed.
Mivi Enters a Competitive Smartphone Market
Mivi’s smartphone push comes after the company reportedly appointed Himanshu Tandon, who has previously worked at Poco and CMF by Nothing, adding smartphone industry experience to its leadership team.
The company is entering a market where several newer brands are looking to challenge established players. Fire-Boltt has expanded from wearables into smartphones, while Ai+ has already launched handsets in India. Micromax is reportedly preparing a comeback, and Philips has also teased a new smartphone.
At the same time, brands such as Redmi, Realme, OnePlus, Oppo and Vivo are increasingly focusing on higher price segments. Rising RAM and storage costs could also create opportunities for newer companies targeting the budget market.
However, Mivi will need to compete on more than its Snapdragon chipset. Camera performance, battery life, software support, overall performance and after-sales service are likely to determine whether its first smartphone can stand out in India’s crowded sub-Rs. 15,000 segment.
