Motorola is gearing up to launch its next premium smartphone, the Signature 27 soon. And days before the launch, several details about the device have surfaced. The Signature 27 was first introduced at the Snapdragon Summit, where Motorola confirmed that it would use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. Now, a hands-on video shared by tech creator Danny Winget offers a closer look at the phone’s design and hardware.

Motorola Signature 27 display and design
The hands-on video offers a closer look at the Signature 27’s design. The phone will be available in two colour options: Cool Smoke and Pantone Capulet Olive.
Both variants feature different finishes on the rear panel. The Cool Smoke version has a tactical weave finish, while the Olive variant seems to use a feathered-inspired texture.
The Signature 27 appears to have a distinctive design, with the camera module standing out on the rear panel. The phone is Motorola’s second device in its premium Signature lineup and its first conventional flagship in the series, rather than a foldable
Coming to the display, the phone is expected to feature a 6.8-inch Extreme AMOLED Duo display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel also supports LTPO technology and uses a Tandem OLED design.
Tandem OLED stacks multiple OLED layers to improve brightness and display efficiency. While the technology has been used in devices such as laptops, its presence on the Signature 27 could help Motorola deliver a brighter screen with improved contrast and colour reproduction.
The display is said to reach a peak brightness of 12,000 nits. This should make the screen easier to view outdoors, including under bright sunlight. The hands-on video also shows the display remaining visible in harsh lighting conditions.
However, peak brightness figures do not always reflect the brightness users will experience across the entire screen during everyday use.
Snapdragon flagship chip, Android 17 and other details
Coming to other features, we already know that the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, which is based on a 2nm process. Apart from this, the phone is expected to offer up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. It will run Android 17 out of the box, with Motorola promising seven years of OS upgrades.
For thermal management, the company is said to have included a vapour chamber that is 40 per cent larger, along with liquid metal and copper mesh. Motorola has not specified the device used as the reference for the size comparison.
The phone will also feature a dedicated AI button on the top-left side, while the power and volume buttons are placed on the top-right side.
Now coming to what all photography lovers like to hear- the camera details. The smartphone is expected to feature a 50MP Sony Lytia 910 primary camera, a 200MP periscope telephoto camera and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. That’s a solid on-paper combination.
A dedicated action sensor is also included to help capture moving subjects more clearly. Motorola is also bringing its AI-powered Video Enhancement Engine to the phone. The feature is designed to analyse scenes and adjust colour tones in real time while recording videos..
What about the India launch?
Motorola has confirmed that the Signature 27 will launch globally on November 5. The company has also confirmed an India launch this month, although the exact date and pricing details are not available yet.
With a high-end Snapdragon chipset, a Tandem OLED display, a 200MP periscope camera and a long software support promise, the Signature 27 could compete with premium Android smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
However, specifications alone will not decide how it performs against its rivals. Its pricing, battery life, camera quality and real-world performance will play a major role in determining whether it can stand out in the flagship segment. Stay tuned for more such updates.
