For years, buying a Samsung flagship in India came with one nagging question: did you get the Exynos version or the Snapdragon one? The Exynos chip was often seen as the slower, hotter option. Now, early leaks suggest that could flip with the Galaxy S27.

According to Korean reports from Yonhap and Chosun Biz, cited by SamMobile, Samsung’s upcoming Exynos 2700 beats Qualcomm’s top-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 in several tests.

Samsung’s Exynos 2700 for Galaxy S27 Reportedly Beats Snapdragon

In Geekbench multi-core tests, which measure how well a chip handles heavy tasks across all its cores, the Exynos 2700 is reportedly up to 20 percent faster than Qualcomm’s best. The reports also claim gains in graphics and AI performance.

The more interesting claim is about efficiency. When the graphics chip is limited to 2.5 watts of power, the Exynos 2700 is reportedly over 20 percent faster than the Snapdragon chips. In simple terms, that would mean better gaming performance without draining the battery or heating up the phone as quickly, which has been Exynos’s biggest weakness in the past.

The chip is built on Samsung’s second-generation 2nm process and has a 10-core CPU and a new Xclipse 970 graphics chip. It is expected to power the Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ in many markets. Whether the Galaxy S27 Ultra will also use it is still unclear.

These numbers reportedly come from Samsung’s own internal testing, not from independent reviewers. The exact figures also vary from one report to another, and none of them say how the tests were run, how much power the chips used or how they performed over longer sessions.

Benchmark scores also don’t always reflect real-world use. A chip can top a short test and still slow down after 20 minutes of gaming once it heats up. That is exactly where earlier Exynos chips struggled, so the real test will come when reviewers get their hands on the phones.

What it means for Indian buyers

India has often been an Exynos market for Samsung’s base and Plus flagships, as with the Galaxy S24 series. If the Exynos 2700 lives up to these claims, Indian buyers may finally stop feeling short-changed by the chip in their Galaxy phone.

Samsung hasn’t confirmed which chip the Galaxy S27 will use in India yet. The series is expected early next year, and until independent tests are out, it is best to treat these numbers as promising rather than proven.
