Vivo could be preparing to expand its S-series smartphone lineup with a new model, and details about the rumoured Vivo S70 have now surfaced online. The phone is expected to bring an upgraded Snapdragon chipset, a sharper display and a more versatile rear camera setup. It could also arrive with a special edition linked to the online game Sky: Children of the Night.

Vivo is reportedly preparing to launch the S70 in China as early as next month. The company has yet to confirm the handset or share its launch plans. Vivo S70 leaks: What to expect

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the Vivo S70 could be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. The octa-core processor is built on a 4nm process and is tipped to offer a peak clock speed of 3.21GHz.

This would be an upgrade over the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset used in the Vivo S60. The newer processor could offer better performance, although real-world results will depend on how Vivo tunes the hardware and software.

The phone is also expected to feature a 6.59-inch LTPS OLED display with 1.5K resolution. This is the same display size and resolution as the Vivo S60. Details about the refresh rate and peak brightness have not surfaced yet, so it remains unclear whether Vivo will make any changes to the screen experience.

The Vivo S70 could also be launched in collaboration with the online game *Sky: Children of the Night*. This could point to a themed edition or a special colour option, but Vivo has not shared any details about the reported partnership.

The camera setup could be where the Vivo S70 sees a more notable upgrade. The phone is tipped to feature a 50-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor and a 64-megapixel Sony LYT-610 periscope telephoto camera.

For comparison, the Vivo S60 features a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera and an 8-megapixel ultrawide shooter. The S70’s rumoured 64-megapixel telephoto sensor could capture more detailed images, particularly when shooting portraits or zooming in on distant subjects. However, the actual improvement will depend on the camera’s optics and image processing.

The phone could also feature a 50-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls, similar to its predecessor.

Another reported feature is support for a 200mm teleconverter lens. If this turns out to be accurate, the Vivo S70 could become the first phone in Vivo’s S series to support a teleconverter.

Vivo has so far kept teleconverter support largely within its flagship lineup, with the feature reportedly making its way to the X300 FE earlier this year. Bringing it to the S70 could give the phone an advantage in the premium mid-range segment, especially for users who enjoy taking portraits and zoom shots.

The leak does not reveal the optical zoom range supported by the phone, or how the teleconverter would work with the camera system. These details will likely become clearer closer to the launch.

The Vivo S70 is expected to succeed the Vivo S60, which was launched in China in May this year. The S60 arrived with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, a 6.59-inch 1.5K display and a 7,200mAh battery.

The S70 could retain the same display specifications and 50-megapixel selfie camera, while bringing a newer chipset and a higher-resolution periscope telephoto sensor. The reported 200mm teleconverter support could also make it more appealing to users who want greater flexibility when taking photos.

Vivo has not confirmed the S70’s launch date, pricing or availability. It is also unclear whether the phone will make its way to markets outside China.
