Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment has revealed a pair of bonuses that players of prior Zelda games can pick up in-game for free. Those who have save data from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom or Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity on their Nintendo Switch 2 will be able to access two special weapons in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Release Date is Now Official

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment serves as a follow-up to both Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Players can expect the same general style of gameplay as they experienced in Hyrule Warriors, but the main story of the game will be canonical, serving to further detail the story of Zelda‘s time spent in the ancient past.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Bonus Weapons

With Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment approaching its release date, the game has revealed what players of prior Zelda games will be able to get in the title. Those who have a save file from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will receive a weapon called the High Guard’s Sword. Save files from Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will instead unlock the High Guard’s Claymore. Both weapons will be available after players complete a mission called The Howling Tempest and return to the Hyrule map.

Hyrule Warriors has been a successful venture for Nintendo and Koei Tecmo, blending the characters and existing lore of the long-running Zelda universe with the gameplay of Dynasty Warriors. While the first entry originally launched on the ill-fated Wii U, it saw enough success that it was ported to the more popular Nintendo 3DS, and then later on, the Nintendo Switch. It then gained a sequel in the form of Age of Calamity, which told a story based on the period of time that’s otherwise only reflected in flashbacks over the course of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

With Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity having sold over four million units, and the Switch 2 selling very well for Nintendo, it’s likely that Age of Imprisonment will see a similar or greater level of success. This is just the latest game Zelda fans have been able to look forward to over the last few years, with Tears of the Kingdom landing in 2023, Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom arriving in 2024, and now Age of Imprisonment releasing on November 6, 2025. It remains to be seen if Nintendo has more Zelda projects planned further out to maintain this annual streak, however.
