A woman on TikTok is walking viewers through her decision-making before buying an electric car—specifically a Chevy.
Carissa Beebe (@carissakbeebe), who often posts car-related content, acknowledged that EVs can “be a love-it-or-hate-it topic,” but said a few models caught her eye. The Chevy Equinox made her shortlist, though she admitted the Blazer was her “favorite.”
The two cars are priced within about $2,000 of each other, with the Blazer slightly higher. But once she saw it on the lot, the choice felt easy.
“I’m very excited,” she said upon seeing the Blazer. “She’s so pretty. Now I think this is pretty nice.”
As of Monday, her video had racked up more than 1,000 views—and sparked a question about whether EVs are the right fit, especially for young single women.
Are Chevy EVs Good For Single Women?
Beebe said she drives a Mazda 3X but, for unknown reasons, was in the market for a new vehicle. She started her video by showing evident excitement about her plans to “get a new car soon.”
Beebe said she was drawn to EVs, specifically, because she had heard good things about them and that they are technologically advanced. But are they a good choice for single women?
Chevy’s EV lineup is drawing attention from young single women who want cars that are safe, practical, and cost-effective. Models like the 2025 Equinox EV come standard with Chevy Safety Assist, a package that includes forward collision alerts, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, and auto high beams. Those features, combined with a solid crash-test record, make them appealing to drivers who prioritize safety and reliability.
Maintenance is another advantage. With far fewer moving parts than gas cars, EVs require less maintenance, which saves time and money over the long term. They’re also cheaper to run on a day-to-day basis. Studies have found that EVs can cost up to 40% less to maintain. For anyone with home charging, “fueling up” overnight is more convenient than making regular trips to the pump.
There are trade-offs. EVs still carry higher sticker prices than comparable gas cars, and not everyone has easy access to a charger. Road trippers also need to plan around charging stops, which take longer than filling up a tank.
For the Equinox, in particular, it’s larger than other Chevy EV models and includes features like hands-free Super Cruise for highway driving.
So, if you’re a single woman weighing practicality against budget, a Chevy EV model might strike the perfect balance between safety and convenience.
What Differentiates the Chevy Blazer From the Chevy Equinox EV?
One local Chevy dealer helped answer this question. In short, while the two EV models appear similar on paper, there are key differences in their pricing, interior space, and range.
As Beebe alluded, the Equinox is generally the more affordable option. In terms of cargo room, the Equinox also has a slight edge with the seats up, at 26.4 cubic feet, compared to the Blazer’s 25.5 cubic feet. Fold the seats down, though, and the Blazer pulls ahead with 59.1 cubic feet versus 57.2 in the Equinox.
Range matters too. The Equinox comes standard with an estimated 319 miles of range, and even with all-wheel drive, it only drops to 285 miles. The Blazer starts lower at 283 miles with all-wheel drive, but buyers willing to upgrade to rear-wheel drive can push that to 334.
The Equinox makes the case for value and efficiency. The Blazer leans more toward power and flexibility if you can afford the higher price.
Viewers watching Beebe’s video were quick to weigh in.
“I work at a Chevy dealership,” one user claimed. “Have a ZR2 Biden 25 and a 24 Equinox EV RS, love it.”
“I have an Equinox EV RS,” another said. “Love it.”
A third offered blunt advice: “Do not buy a non-Tesla or Porsche EV.”
And a fourth kept it simple: “Buy a Tesla.”
