August 26 is Going to Be a Big Day for Overwatch 2 Fans

Blizzard has fully pulled the curtain back on what Overwatch 2 fans can expect from Season 18. Every season of Overwatch 2 brings exciting changes and new content for fans of the hero shooter to enjoy, but some seasons are more exciting than others. In fact, it’s likely that the majority of Overwatch 2 players would point to seasons that introduce new heroes as the best that the game has to offer.

Overwatch 2 added new Damage hero Freja earlier this year, and soon it will be adding new Support hero Wuyang to the equation. Overwatch 2 players have had the chance to try Wuyang on a trial basis, but come August 26, he will be added to the game’s ever-expanding roster of playable heroes.

When Does Overwatch 2 Season 18 Start?

Overwatch 2‘s Wuyang is armed with the Xuanwu Staff, which shoots “guided water robs” that cause burst damage or disruption. Wuyang’s Guardian Wave has knockback and boosts ally healing, while Rusing Torrent allow Wuyang to surf water currents “for rapid mobility.” Finally, there’s Tidal Blast, Wuyang’s Ultimate. Tidal Blast grants overhealth and knocks back enemies with a wave. Time will tell how fans respond to Wuyang’s kit once he’s live in the game proper, but we will find out soon enough. Of course, Wuyang is really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to new content and changes coming to Overwatch 2 in Season 18.

Beyond Wuyang being added to the game, Overwatch 2 fans can also look forward to a Quickplay Queue in Stadium mode, along with the debuts of Winston, Brigitte, and Pharah. Tracer is also coming to Stadium in Season 18, but not when the season starts on August 26. Stadium is also getting a Draft Mode that lets players counter-pick and strategize, Payload Race Mode, new items, the Thames District and Oasis Gardens maps, and new Elite Rank rewards.

Overwatch 2 Season 18 will also be the perfect time to jump back into the game’s addictive Competitive Play. Overwatch 2 Season 18 will see a full reset, meaning players can tackle fresh placement matches to determine their rank. 50+ new hero perks are being added to Competitive and PvP modes across the board, which should also help make things interesting.

Finally, Overwatch 2 will feature a new Sojourn Mythic Hero Skin, the Blazing Sunsetter Mythic Weapon Skin for Cassidy, a new Premium Battle Pass with an Ultimate Bundle and free rewards available, hero skill rating to determine personal mastery, faster leveling, new prestige portrait levels at certain levels, and milestone loot boxes. There will also be a new Advanced Info Panel that offers real-time stats for players to consider in their matches. All things considered, Overwatch 2 is clearly coming out swinging with Season 18, and it will be exciting to see how it shapes up come August 26.
