Battlefield 6 actively encourages players to uninstall the game’s single-player campaign upon completion to save storage space on a user’s PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, or PC. Compared to titles like God of War Ragnarok or ARK: Survival Ascended, Battlefield 6 occupies very little space on players’ hard drives. However, that doesn’t appear to have stopped developers DICE from actively telling fans to uninstall the campaign as a way to free up some extra space.

After a four-year absence, the latest entry in the Battlefield series launched on October 10, receiving rave reviews from players and critics. While many are loving the shooter’s multiplayer, Battlefield 6‘s campaign seems to be receiving mixed reviews, with many blasting the clunky AI and weak storyline. In total, the campaign only has 9 missions for players to complete. On average, this is just 4-5 hours of gameplay, which means those looking to spend $70 solely for the game’s single-player story may be left severely disappointed.

Battlefield 6 Wants You to Uninstall the Campaign

Those who have jumped in and completed every mission in Battlefield 6‘s campaign are now discovering that DICE is actively encouraging players to delete it afterwards. Once players finish the campaign, a message will appear on screen saying, “Play again to complete challenges or uninstall single player to save space.” While this might seem out of the ordinary for a AAA title to promote the deletion of one of its game modes, the overall file size of games is continuing to grow, which has resulted in players having to choose carefully about what they want installed on their consoles or PC.

Battlefield 6 is the latest title to offer a modular installation system, which allows players to choose which components they want installed on their device. This is something that has already been seen in other big AAA shooters, such as Call of Duty, allowing players to have more control over what they download and install. For those who have no desire to check out Battlefield 6‘s campaign, for example, they can choose to remove it from their console or PC. The same goes for multiplayer, as anyone who only plans to experience the single-player story doesn’t need to have multiplayer installed alongside it.

Despite a somewhat lackluster campaign, Battlefield 6 is dominating the sales charts. Fans are loving the game’s multiplayer, which is likely why Battlefield 6 is the best-selling physical game in the United Kingdom right now, closely followed by EA Sports FC 26 and Ghost of Yotei. For those who took part in the Battlefield 6 open beta, this likely won’t come as much of a surprise. When the playtest opened to the public earlier this year, it quickly surpassed Call of Duty‘s all-time concurrent player count record on Steam, achieving more than 521,000 active players on the platform.
