A recent analysis suggested that Battlefield 6 was losing ground to its main rival, with Call of Duty maintaining strong player engagement metrics as Battlefield‘s place slipped in the rankings. Battlefield 6’s New BF Pro Bonus Path Only Gives Players 7 Days to Complete It
As Redditor Venirto pointed out, the new BF Pro bonus path lasts just seven days but has 10 tiers to complete. According to the user, the “vast majority of the player base” wouldn’t be able to sink enough time into the game in that short window to unlock everything by completing challenges. That means the only way for most people to complete all 10 tiers is to spend Battlefield Coins to skip them, which could mean spending real-world money if players haven’t earned enough through in-game rewards. To make matters worse, the final reward in the bonus path is a skin Battlefield 6 players have accused of ripping off a Call of Duty logo, which may not feel like a fitting reward for finishing 10 tiers in just one week.
This is far from the first controversy BF Pro has run into. The premium upgrade, which costs an additional $24.99 on top of the $70 base game, has regularly annoyed fans by locking seemingly small features behind the paywall. As Season 1 initially rolled out, Battlefield 6 players criticized the BF Pro Radio Station, which was little more than a paywalled playlist of songs to listen to in-game. The ability to host 100-player servers in Portal mode is also exclusive to BF Pro, while many players argued it should be available to a wider portion, if not all, of the Battlefield 6 community.
Other users in the comments of Venirto’s post called out the latest BF Pro issue for being emblematic of larger issues with the game’s grind. One called the grind “unbearable,” while another said they “just can’t commit” to it anymore as a busy father of two kids. Fans have been speaking out against Battlefield 6‘s progression for nearly as long as the game has been out, and while EA has since adjusted its challenge system, this newest scandal shows that players still feel the game asks them to do too much in too little time to earn in-game rewards.
With Season 1 likely concluding sometime in the coming weeks, it’s unclear how future BF Pro bonus paths will try to win back fans. Many players responding to Venirto’s post said they won’t buy another battle pass after being disappointed by this one. There may be an uphill battle for the game as a whole, as Battlefield 6 became one of the series’ lowest-rated games on Steam in November, with only the much-derided Battlefield 2042 having worse reviews. Now that it’s a new year and Season 2 is sure to come out before too long, EA has a chance to right some wrongs, but it remains uncertain if and how that will happen.
