Tower climbing is something that felt fresh when Ubisoft games adopted it at first, only for their presence in the video game industry to become tiresome for fans. However, this doesn’t mean that some games don’t make tower climbing more engaging than ever.

Players will love climbing these tall structures to reveal more of the map and enjoy a sense of completion. Even after how dated this mechanic feels, these titles should be lauded for making the act of climbing structures more engaging than it has any right to be.

    Immortals Fenyx Rising

Emulates BotW In Many Ways, Including The Act Of Climbing Tall Structures Like The Statue Of The Gods

Immortals Fenyx Rising will find it hard to fight against the Breath of the Wild allegations, especially since a lot of this game feels so similar to Nintendo’s open-world masterpiece. In place of the Sheikah Towers, this game has massive, towering statues depicting gods that players must climb to uncover more of the map.

While it may lack the organic exploration of Breath of the Wild, players who enjoy the charming vibes of this game wouldn’t mind this aspect of the game. It helps that the fun story and engaging combat ensure that the other gameplay pillars also help Immortals Fenyx Rising stand out, even if it wasn’t the biggest sales success for Ubisoft.

    7

    Dying Light 2 Stay Human

Aiden Must Climb Radio Towers To Reveal Inhibitor Locations

Dying Light 2 Stay Human is a great sequel that expands on the original’s gameplay, even if some aspects of this title didn’t sit right with players. However, the parkour was never going to let people down, with Aiden’s movement feeling smooth and satisfying.

This is why climbing towers in this game feels so great. It gives players an excuse (that they don’t really need) to engage with the parkour mechanics and figure out the most efficient way to climb the many radio towers scattered across Villedor.

    6

    Watch Dogs

Like Most Classic Ubisoft Games, Players Use ctOS Towers To Reveal The Map

Watch Dogs had its issues, but it still marked a promising first entry in the series for many fans. The hacking had a ton of potential, and the chaotic action was more riveting than it had any right to be.

Players had to ascend to the top of various ctOS towers to uncover more of the map in classic Ubisoft fashion. The lore explains why this act is necessary and ensures that players will love making slow yet steady progress in Watch Dogs.

    5

    Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

Towers And Other Tall Structures Let Players Reveal More Of The Map

Almost every Assassin’s Creed game can qualify as a fun game where climbing towers feels great. Syndicate‘s smooth movement and the amazing vistas of Victorian London ensure that it’ll leave a lasting impression on players.

The tall structures that players must scale range from regular towers to the iconic Big Ben. Even if not all of these locations are synchronization points, the fun players can enjoy as they put their climbing skills to the test never gets old.

    4

    Middle-earth: Shadow Of Mordor

Celebrimbor Uses His Wraith Powers To Reveal The Original Form Of Forge Towers

Shadow of Mordor is one of the best Assassin’s Creed “clones” that managed to surpass its inspiration in many ways, with the visceral Arkham-esque combat system and the satisfying movement mechanics being one of the many reasons why.

Players will love exploring the dark side of Tolkien’s world as they help Talion and Celebrimbor bring the fight to Sauron. During their adventures, players will find several ruined Forge Towers that can be brought to their former glory with Celebrimbor’s Wraith powers, allowing players to uncover more of this hostile map in the process.

    3

    Horizon Zero Dawn

Climbing Tallnecks Makes For A Fun Twist On The Traditional Tower-Climbing Mechanic

With the Tallnecks, the Horizon series has found a simple and elegant solution to make tower climbing feel fresh and fun again. Players find these large mechanical dinosaurs roaming the map and must figure out a point from the terrain to jump onto these beasts and reach the top.

This allows them to reveal more of the map in one of the more fun implementations of the tower climbing mechanic present in most video games. This level of ingenuity made Zero Dawn feel more fresh and engaging than ever, and fans had hoped that Forbidden West would try to add their unique spin to established open-world elements as well.

    2

    Far Cry 3

A Classic Far Cry Game Where Climbing Towers Is Part Of The Fun

Far Cry 3 is one of the greatest video games ever made, released around a time when climbing towers didn’t make for an agonizing affair. Jason Brody’s struggles to save his friends and escape the Rook Islands made for a great time, with the story doing a great job of explaining his heightened skills.

Cutting down enemies in style and clearing outposts without making a sound made for a great time. Along with this, players also climbed towers to enjoy the game’s movement system and uncover the map in classic Ubisoft fashion.

    1

The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

It’s Amazing How This Revolutionary Open-World Game Made Climbing Towers Feel So Fresh

It’s amazing how Breath of the Wild is hailed as one of the freshest open-world games to come out in a long time, despite featuring the age-old mechanic of making players climb towers to uncover the map. However, the visual design of this game’s sandbox ensures that this task wouldn’t get old in the slightest.

Reaching the top of a Sheikah Tower was a puzzle in itself, and marking Shrines and other points of interest after reaching the top was surprisingly engaging. It ensured that the player’s journey would always have a goal no matter where they went, which is just one of the many reasons why Breath of the Wild was hailed as an open-world masterpiece.
