Jurassic World Evolution 3 lets you build the prehistoric park of your dreams, but you have to research the coolest upgrades before you can build them. Jurassic World Evolution 3 has most of the research tree unlocked from the start of the campaign, but which upgrades are worth getting first?
The main campaign of Jurassic World Evolution 3 is much less linear than its predecessors, so you’re given a ton of freedom when it comes to upgrading your park and researching new equipment. It can be overwhelming for new park managers, and even experienced dino wranglers can have trouble deciding where to start. These are the best research upgrades to unlock first in Jurassic World Evolution 3.
Best Upgrades to Research First in Jurassic World Evolution 3
There are quite a few important upgrades you should prioritize in Jurassic World Evolution 3, but the ones you should pick first depend on your vision for your park.
The Operations research tree is a solid option regardless of your goals. There, you can have your team of scientists research power upgrades, Staff Center improvements, and Security Cameras. Power upgrades will unlock helpful installations like Substations and Pylons that let you move away from Backup Generators. Staff Center upgrades let you enhance your scientists’ abilities, and Security Cameras automatically dispatch Ranger Teams if any dangerous situations break out near an enclosure.
Once you’ve got the basics out of the way, you should move on to researching Dig Sites. These unlock new Expeditions across the globe, letting you bring in new dinosaur species and raise your park’s profits. The coolest dinosaurs will be locked until you increase your Security reputation, but you can still get profitable dinos like medium-sized carnivores early on.
Then, you can move on to Gene Modification. This research tree lets you customize the genetic structure of synthesized dinosaurs raised in Hatcheries. You can manually select optimal traits that make dinosaurs more docile and less susceptible to disease. You can even make them more comfortable with smaller enclosures and suboptimal environments, which is a huge help when you’re running out of space.
All of these research upgrades carry over across park sites in Jurassic World Evolution 3, letting you keep your dinosaurs comfortable no matter where you go. Keep growing your prehistoric theme park empire, and these upgrades will come naturally.
