    • Healing with teammates speeds up the process and forces killers to waste time.
    • Save planks for late game to keep killers at bay during chases and ensure victory.
    • Prioritize center generators early on to make the late game easier and avoid killers’ patrol.

It’s hard not to love Dead by Daylight‘s 2v8 mode, though it’s certainly not a walk in the park. Because so many Survivors are packed into a single map, and due to there being an extra Killer added to the match, it can make it much harder to stay alive, considering the enemy can cover so much ground at once. While surviving is one thing, players will also be tasked with firing up 8 generators to have any chance of escaping, which is very difficult when the likes of Hilbilly and Wesker are charging around the map looking for their next victim.

Being quiet is crucial in Dead by Daylight, and these characters are quite the opposite for players wanting (or avoiding) an added challenge.

Thankfully, there are a few handy tips that can improve the survivors’ chances of making it through a match in one piece, which, needless to say, are very much needed considering how relentless this mode is. Anyone looking to dive into Dead by Daylight‘s 2v8 mode as a survivor will want to keep these useful tricks in mind to avoid getting hooked too early on in a match.

    1

    Heal With Teammates

Having As Many Fully-Healed Teammates As Possible Will Force Killers To Waste More Time

Healing a fellow survivor can often be a little risky, considering it takes a fair amount of time to get someone back to full speed. With so many survivors on the field at once though, it means players should always be healing others at the same time to speed up the process. Having two people healing at once, especially if a med-kit is involved, will drastically speed up the health restoration.

In a regular game of Dead by Daylight, it can sometimes be a good idea to split up to throw the Killer off their tracks, but considering how much easier it is to heal in this mode with the bigger team numbers, staying in a small group is a lot better this time around. Additionally, having extra health will force the Killers to waste more precious time by forcing them to chase, so it will always prove useful in the long run.

    2

Try To Avoid Using Planks Too Early

Leave Some Planks For The Rest Of The Team To Throw Down – It Might Just Save Their Lives

Chases happen a lot more frequently in the 2v8 mode, and as a result, planks become an essential tool for the survivors when a Killer begins stalking them. Most killers will simply destroy planks as soon as they are set down, and since many can do so quicker with their unique abilities, survivors should try keeping them untouched and available unless absolutely necessary.

Dead By Daylight: The Best Killer Perks, Ranked

Dead by Daylight is a 4v1 multiplayer horror experience where killers kill and survivors survive. Here are the best killer perks in the game.

When the gates open at the end of a match and everyone is rushing to safety, having a few planks still left on the map can keep the Killers at bay long enough to score the victory. As a result, be a team player, and try to save these survival tools alone when possible.

    3

Focus On Generators In The Center Of The Map

Getting Central Gens Out Of The Way Early Will Make The Late Game Much Easier

In the late stages of a match, when a survivor or two have fallen, and the Killers are on high alert, generator placement can become the deciding factor between life and death for those who are left standing. Having the last few generators dotted around the far stretches of the map forces Killers to cover more of the map, which is why getting those generators in the middle done and dusted so early is important.

With two Killers roaming the map simultaneously, they can easily patrol a cluster of generators if they are all concentrated in the same small area. Therefore, while it can be tempting to get those distant generators finished right off the bat to avoid the Killers, it can be better to be brave in the early game to make things easier.

    4

    Never Avoid Chests

Tools Become More Important Than Ever When Two Killers Are On The Map

It might come as a surprise, but up to 20 chests can spawn on the bigger maps for Dead by Daylight. While they can be easy to miss out on, especially since they are usually burrowed away in bushes and trees, even the smallest of resources will prove useful in this mode, so it’s worth popping these open as early as possible.

In terms of what items can come out of the chests, the flashlight can prove useful for keeping Killers at a distance when they are on the chase. Since many players have been playing Wesker in 2v8, who can instantly launch himself to his prey, being able to blind him can make it much easier to escape. First Aid Sprays and Toolkits are also handy for giving players a much-needed leg up at the beginning of a match.

    5

Avoid Tracking The Killer When They Are Carrying

Survivors Will Be Sent To Random Hooks, Meaning There’s No Need To Risk Tracking The Killer

Hooking a survivor works a little differently in 2v8 than it does normally. Rather than the Killer walking their victim over to a nearby hook which they can then keep an eye on, the survivor will instead be sent to a random hook, which tends to be on the other side of the map. As a result, it can help boost the rate of survival by getting out of the habit of lurking around Killers when they are carrying someone since there’s simply no need to.

Dead By Daylight: The 15 Best Killers For Beginners (& How To Play Them)

Dead By Daylight can seem a little intimidating at first. When it comes to the killer role, these characters are the easiest to learn.

If anything, staying as far from the Killer as possible gives a survivor a better chance of rescuing an ally, since it’s likely they’ll pop up around the very next corner anyway. Being able to observe a Killer from afar can still be useful for map control, but getting up close and personal can end in disaster.

    6

Practice Breaking The Line Of Sight

Avoid Getting Trapped By The Killers’ Mobile Attacks By Bobbing And Weaving Around The Environment

Since the 2v8 mode is restricted to only a small pool of Killers, most of whom possess terrifying speed and mobility, including Hillbilly and Wesker, being able to break the line of sight is extremely important. Many of the Killers will have a noise to alert players that they are charging up their rushdown ability, so being able to quickly run past a boulder or into a building when this happens can help avoid an early death.

If it’s a map where cover and debris are harder to come by, simply zig-zagging left and right can still be just enough to avoid the Killer’s attack. The Killer pool for this mode is much more centered around mobility, so being able to counteract this is key to seeing it through in one piece.

    7

    Cover The Lever-Puller

There Are More Bodies In 2v8 To Protect The Final Lever Pull To Make A Getaway

Once all the generators are finally activated, the final step in the survivors’ getaway will be pulling down the lever to open the gate. Whoever on the team decides to act will be left completely vulnerable for more than a few seconds, meaning Killers with ranged attacks and abilities, such as the Huntress and Deathslinger, will be able to disrupt them from afar.

The best way to prevent this from happening is simply huddling around the person using the lever to act as a human meat shield that can protect them from harm. This can be harder to do in a game with 4 survivors, where one person being hooked can jeopardize the chances for everyone. In contrast, so long as there are a few people on the map in this mode, other survivors can still unhook anyone who sacrifices themselves in the last few moments for everyone to escape safely.

    8

    Always Prioritize Generators

The Number 1 Essential Tip For Dead By Daylight Also Applies To The 2v8 Bonus Mode

Though this tip may seem obvious, it’s surprising just how easy it can be to forget about the generators in this mode, considering how much chaos is always going on elsewhere. Though it might seem okay to just let the others work on the generators, because far more of them need to be completed, players should always be working on one when possible.

Keep in mind that, when a fellow survivor gets hooked, there’s a good chance someone else on the team will already be on the way to help them down. The worst thing that can happen in a match is a group of survivors dropping their generators just to rescue the same person, since it wastes precious time, but also allows the Killer to find everyone all at once. Therefore, they always need to be a top priority, otherwise the Killer will begin snowballing in power.
