Time-Waster Games have been a topic of debate lately, with so many players enjoying massive titles of varied genres, and some undoubtedly being dubbed as ‘points of no return’ for those who enjoy losing themselves in the thrill of playing endlessly.

From MMORPGs where players can lose themselves for thousands of hours by doing only side activities, to games where there’s no limit when players’ imagination is left unchecked. There’s no telling what could happen if readers dive into these dangerous games that could trap them for the rest of their lives, if they are not careful.

    Black Desert Online

You Could Spend The Rest Of Your Life Breeding Horses Or Cooking Pastries If You’re Not Careful

Landing in Velia for the first time is an overwhelming experience for even the most veteran of MMORPG players, and Black Desert doesn’t make it any easier for the rookies either. With so many things to do, so many places to visit, so many objectives to grind, quests to complete, and professions to learn, it gets really, really hard to set a clear objective.

To make things even worse, artisanship in the game is so enthralling and detailed that it becomes difficult not to fall into any of the Lifeskills the game has to offer. From being a notable Merchant, to the richest Horse Breeder in the world, Black Desert’sside activities are a path of no return for those who are there for the PvE and PvP activities, but a pleasant joyride for those who enjoy the grinding of crafting and collecting mats. On the other hand, the game is not just about Lifeskills, since there are 29 playable classes to pick from, and an enormous world to explore, full of secrets, dungeons, Raids, Guild PvP, and the list goes on forever.

    2

    Warframe

An Entire Solar System To Defend, And Hundreds Of Weapons To Master

Warframe is, arguably, one of the best live-service games ever made: It has a solid, ever-growing community, its own annual live gathering (Tennocon), a stable in-game economy based on pay-to-play with tradeable in-game currency, and a killer story with engaging gameplay as the cherry on top. But, there’s one thing no one who has ever played Warframe can deny: It is a Time-Waster Game.

From the Endless Grinding in its procedurally generated missions to the time-consuming Sorties, Archon Hunts, and constantly renovating Alerts, this game will hook players in and never let them go. Luckily, there’s a silver lining at the end of the day: Progression leads to Mastery, and Mastery leads to perfection. This is a game that is rewarding for those who overcome the first stages of gruesome Grinding, and allows them to become living Legends using the most powerful Warframes: respected Tennos that can buff the whole community and are paragons of what it means to be a Space Ninja.

    3

    Destiny 2

No Point Lying Here, This Is Truly A Time-Waster

Exotics, Legendaries, God Rolls, and a gazillion weapons to grind: Destiny 2 has become one of the top-graded Time-Waster Games ever made. Every Season (Now Called Episodes) is an excuse for players all over the world to dive back and try their best to reach the new Power Level scale, get the best Weapons (and now Armors), and beat the challenges before they all turn into Pumpkins when the Festival of the Lost begins.

Guardians have to be one of the most resilient and enduring players that have ever lived, and many of their feats are the stuff of legend. Perhaps that is the main charm of D2 as a live-service game: the power it has to gather its community around its top players, and the thrill of seeing them try and try until they beat all the odds to become the ‘World First’ in every Major Raid/Dungeon event. The rest is an endless grind, a thirst for power that can only be quenched by the sheer luck of nailing a God Roll of one of the Meta Weapons everyone is using in the season.

    4

    Minecraft

Create A World, And It Will Be The Last TIme You Touch Non-Pixelated Grass

Minecraft is a game that everyone at some point has to try and experience to know one of the most time-consuming titles in the history of gaming. It is not just about the vastness of its procedurally generated worlds, or its voxel-style design: It is the sheer amount of things players can do in this game that makes it such a complete time trap for those who really want to get lost in a game.

Those who played in cooperative modes, hosting their own worlds and watching their friends learn and fail through cooperation (or mutual mischief), or have constructed gigantic structures representing pop-culture topics, or simply defied the Wither in its natural environment and lived to tell the tale, will surely carry the weight of hundreds of hours wasted (or well spent) over their shoulders.

    5

    The World Ends With You

It’ll Be The End Of Your Free Time

Those who had the luck to try this game in the glorious era of the Nintendo DS would know that The World Ends With You (TWEWY) is a quirky and unique RPG with an enthralling story and engaging gameplay, but nevertheless, a Time-Wasting Game that will enslave players for hours. For starters, the power grind to beat all the challenges (especially bosses) in the game requires ‘Pins,’ which are quite troublesome to farm.

Players will have to beat thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of enemies in a unique beat ’em up sequential combat style that controls two characters at the same time, which is another of the reasons why this game takes such a long time to master and beat. The more players progress through the story, the more they will feel the need to grind for those Pins, and increase their chances of survival in the upcoming battles. So, yes, TWEWY can be time-consuming, even in its Nintendo Switch version, though it’s a great game for those who enjoy the JRPG genre.

    6

    Persona 5: The Phantom X

Someone Merged Persona And Genshin Impact: Evil Genius

Gacha Games are always time-consuming; no matter what players do, they are always going to be fighting the vicious RNG, and to make up for it, they will need to enter an endless cycle of grinding and completing events. Persona 5: The Phantom X is the prime example of this: A game that has the goodness of the Persona series but the Gacha System of games like Genshin Impact, with all its pros and cons.

From exploring endless pathways in Mementos, to taking down the Metaverse Palaces and their ‘Bosses’ to steal the Treasures, players will create and manage their own teams of Phantom Thieves, and meet popular characters from the series like Joker, Panther, and Morgana. It’s a game that can trap players for hundreds of hours, if they’re not careful.

    7

    League of Legends

The Path To Challenger Is A Slippery Slope

Every competitive player has tried, at least once, a MOBA game, and League of Legends, is one of the best of the genre, despite all the things that tend to go wrong when ten competitive players are pinned against each other in team matches that last for half an hour (sometimes longer). From Jungling to Supporting, every role is a key element in this death dance towards supremacy, to destroy the opposite team’s lanes and conquer their Nexus before their strongest player snowballs into an unstoppable monster.

After trying hundreds of builds and testing every champion in LoL (there are over 150 to pick from), players will feel like they have spent years of their lives in a single game; some might even do it for real. It’s just so fun and rewarding that players will find it really hard to stop at only one match, more so if they are on a streak.

    8

    ARC Raiders

Games like ARC Raiders happen only once in a blue moon. An extraction shooter that integrates the best of Battle Royales with a PvPvE focus, where everything can happen. Players will have to choose carefully how they wish to play: If they are true Raiders, going out for the loot to help Speranza survive, or if they are vicious rogues waiting for a chance to kill other players and steal their gear. In the surface where ARC AI enemies roam, anything can happen, and if players are not careful, they can go round after round without even noticing time slipping away.

The guys from Embark Studios did everything right with this title, and players are going to have a blast trying to get their bearings around its many interesting mechanics. Combat is also similar to games like The Division, where players deploy gadgets and use a wide variety of weapons to engage their enemies. Everything in the game can be looted, scavenged, and crafted again, so the power ladder is easy to climb for those who are persistent and try without giving up after losing their precious gear.
