Black Ops 6 and Warzone’s Season 5 have definitely been a mixed bag, depending on the mode you play. The launch was stellar for Multiplayer and Zombies players, bringing in exciting 6v6 Multiplayer maps and the final Zombies map leading up to Black Ops 7’s launch. However, the Warzone side of things definitely lacked sizable updates.
However, Season 5 is approaching its final week, and while most players may be putting their attention toward the Black Ops 7 Beta that runs during the final week of Black Ops 6 Season 5, Season 6 is almost here. With Season 6 also comes the highly anticipated Haunting update, which Treyarch has shared details of over on their official blog post. Here is when to expect the Haunting season to release in Black Ops 6 and Warzone.

The Haunting Season 6 Black Ops 6 & Warzone Content Full Breakdown
Multiplayer Maps & Modes
The launch of The Haunting Season 6 brings three brand-new Multiplayer maps and one map variant, all available at launch on October 9. The new 6v6 maps include Gravity, Rig, and Mothball, with Mothball also serving as a Strike Map. As for the map variant, players can jump into Boo-Town at launch, a spooky twist on Nuketown featuring giant spiders, Halloween decorations, and a darker skybox.
In terms of modes, Slasher Deathmatch joins the rotation, letting players face off against or play as iconic horror slashers like Jason Voorhees and Chucky, each with unique abilities. The mode will feature four total rounds and will launch alongside Season 6.
The Haunting Updates for Warzone
Some of the biggest content updates for Season 6 come to Warzone, which brings back The Haunting in a major way. At launch, both Verdansk and Rebirth Island receive Night Variants, cranking up the spooky atmosphere. Zombie Royale also arrives in-season, removing the Gulag and letting players play as the undead. These undead Operators can use their unique abilities to take down human players or locate Anti-Virals to earn a second chance.
The Mutant Injection Scorestreak from Zombies also makes its way into Warzone, transforming players into a Mangler at launch, with Treyarch teasing the ability to transform into other enemy types as the season progresses. Portals are added to Battle Royale for fast travel across the map, and a new mode, Casual Z, enters the mix. In Casual Z, players face off against zombies, other players, and mercenary AI in both Verdansk and Resurgence. If it sounds a lot like MWZ, that is because it is without the extraction element.
Zombies Updates
While Zombies receives a huge amount of content for Season 6, there are a few new additions to note. The first is the Haunted Havoc LTM, which takes players into round-based Zombies where the Rampage Inducer is always active. Zombies also get a Halloween makeover with pumpkin heads, and players will need to fend off Mimics while earning GobbleGum rewards for completing the main quest on any map in the mode.
New GobbleGums also arrive, including Jacked Lanterns, a whimsical GobbleGum that gives zombies pumpkin heads. Rounding out the Zombies content are two new Leaderboard Event rewards, Death Pit and Extinction Protocol, which likely grant players Emblems and free GobbleGums that will carry over to Black Ops 7 if unused.
New Weapons & Loadout Options
With Season 6 comes a fresh wave of weapons and new loadout options. Leading the lineup are two iconic additions, the Dresden 9mm (MP40) and the Merrick 556 (M14), both unlockable through the Season 6 Battle Pass. A Chainsaw also joins the mix as an in-season event reward, alongside a new Special Weapon, the X52 Resonator.
In terms of attachments, players can unlock the GPR91 Double-Barrel Conversion via the Battle Pass, allowing the GPR91 to fire two rounds simultaneously at the cost of a slower fire rate. The GPMG-7 Muzzle Booster also arrives through an event, increasing fire rate and bullet velocity over time, though it does come with added recoil.
Season 6 Battle Pass & Crossover Skins
It was expected that Season 6 of Black Ops 6 and Warzone would get their own Battle Pass. What was less expected is that both games also received a bunch of new collaborations. The Predator can be unlocked through the Season 6 Battle Pass, while Jason Voorhees will get his own Store Bundle later in the season. Players can also play as the Chucky Operator Skin and My Tiffany Skin through the Chucky Event Pass.
New Limited-Time Events
A new Black Ops 6 and Warzone season would not be complete without a bunch of new limited-time events, all of which kick off throughout the season. At launch, players can dive in and unlock Daily Login Rewards throughout The Haunting, including the free Rave in Us Assault Rifle Weapon Blueprint and much more. Other events include the Chucky Event Pass (premium track 1,100 COD Points), Echoes of the Dead, and Tapes of Terror, with the final event rewarding players with the Zombies Reel Weapon Camo.
Black Ops 6 Free Trial
Season 6 also gives players the chance to try out Black Ops 6 for free if they have not done so already. The Black Ops 6 Free Trial begins with the launch of Season 6 and runs through October 16 at 10 AM PT. This free trial gives players access to the full game, including Campaign, Zombies, and Multiplayer, along with all the new content added with The Haunting.
