CHENNAI-PUNE 10th June 2025: Pune-based Force Motors Ltd. has achieved a major milestone with the delivery of its 100,000th engine to the BMW Group from its specialised assembly facility in Chennai. This accomplishment signifies ten years of cooperation between the two Indian businesses.
The milestone was celebrated with a special ceremony attended by senior executives, including Marcus Wollens, Vice President of BMW Production Network 2, Thomas Dose, Managing Director of BMW Plant Chennai, and Prasan Firodia, Managing Director of Force Motors.

The 100,000th engine will power a BMW G05 X5. In addition to operational success, this accomplishment signifies the growth of an industrial partnership that began in 2015 with a single engine model and a newly trained workforce.
In a joint statement, Force Motors and BMW said, “This milestone reflects our shared values of precision engineering, quality, and the ‘Make in India’ commitment.”
Following specialised training at BMW’s Steyr plant in Austria, one of the German automaker’s global engine hubs, Force Motors was selected by BMW to assemble and test engines for its operations in India. What began as a single product has grown into an extensive engine assembly programme that supports eight BMW models—both petrol and diesel—that are sold in India.
A key component of BMW’s localisation strategy in India is the engine assembly plant in Chennai, which satisfies both cost reduction and the rising demand for locally assembled goods among Indian luxury car buyers. At the moment, Force Motors provides the engines for the X1, X3, X5, and a number of sedans in BMW’s lineup of locally built automobiles.

According to Prasan Firodia, “reaching the 100,000-engine mark is not just a volume achievement; it reflects sustained collaboration, trust, and mutual growth,” highlighting the company’s emphasis on fortifying its international alliances.
The partnership with BMW enhances Force Motors’ position as an expert in contract manufacturing engines and axles for well-known international brands. Force Motors has demonstrated its proficiency in high-precision automotive manufacturing by becoming Mercedes-Benz India’s exclusive engine and axle assembly partner in addition to BMW.
This milestone coincides with the fast-paced evolution of the Indian automotive industry, which is seeing steady growth in the premium and luxury segments. BMW India has been increasing the range of products it offers for the Indian market and has profited from Force Motors’ localised assembly capabilities, which support resilient supply chains and competitive pricing.
The ten-year partnership between Force Motors and BMW highlights how Indian manufacturers are becoming crucial participants in global automotive supply chains as the demand for luxury vehicles rises and localisation becomes a more important part of automakers’ strategies in India.
