City of the Wolves Reveals New Character

In the build-up to its highly anticipated release, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has revealed Gato as the latest playable character to be confirmed for the game. Developed by SNK, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves marks the return of one of the oldest popular fighting game IPs in the world, with the series having been kicked off in 1991 with Fatal Fury: King of the Fighters.

Back in 2022, SNK announced that a Fatal Fury sequel was in development, filling longtime fans with excitement. After around 26 years, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is set to mark the franchise’s return on April 24, 2025, on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The fighting game will continue the story of the preceding entry in the series, 1999’s Garou: Mark of the Wolves. Over recent months, various fighters—such as Kim Dong Hwan and Mai Shiranui—have been revealed to be part of the forthcoming Fatal Fury game’s roster.

In a recently released trailer for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, Gato has been announced as the newest confirmed addition to the game’s growing catalog of fighters. Starting from quick strikes to theatrical finishers, the clip shows the various moves that the martial artist is set to bring to the game. Voiced by Cory Yee, Gato can be seen wearing a traditional-looking black robe along with dark green pants throughout the video, which is also close to what fans have come to expect based on the character’s past iterations. Joining the lineup in City of the Wolves makes him yet another martial artist in the new Fatal Fury besides Hotaru Futaba.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Announces New Addition to Roster

Gato gets a grand arrival on Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves‘s roster, thanks to receiving his own trailer for the game. The returning Fatal Fury character, who first appeared in Garou: Mark of the Wolves, is depicted as a vengeful combatant who fights his enemies with his eyes closed in order to sharpen his other senses and movement. Interestingly, Gato has appeared on multiple occasions in SNK’s Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters franchises.

Besides incorporating fan-favorite characters into the new Fatal Fury, SNK has also worked on a certain unexpected collaboration as of late. One of its recent team-ups involved a renowned footballer bringing his likeness to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. With some more time to go before the fighting title’s launch, it will be interesting to see if the Japanese studio announces more characters coming to the 2025 game.
