OPPO is set to unveil ColorOS 17, its Android 17-based software interface, on October 13, ahead of the global launch of the Find X10 series on October 21 in Spain. The company has confirmed that the upcoming Find X10 lineup will be among the first smartphones to ship with the new software, which introduces redesigned animations, visual effects and performance improvements.
The Find X10 series is expected to include the Find X10 and Find X10 Pro Max, with OPPO confirming that the India-bound models will use MediaTek Dimensity 9600 series chipsets. The upcoming software announcement is also significant for OnePlus and Realme users, as eligible devices from both brands are joining the ColorOS 17 beta programme.

ColorOS 17 Features: Living Flow Design and Luminous Effect
One of the biggest changes in ColorOS 17 is Living Flow Design, a system-wide animation framework intended to make scrolling, swiping and switching between screens feel smoother and more consistent. Rather than focusing solely on processing speed, OPPO is emphasising animation timing and transitions to improve the overall user experience.
The update also introduces Luminous Effect, which adds light-based feedback when users interact with interface elements. Demonstrations show quick settings toggles glowing when tapped, while switching between notifications and quick settings features a curtain-like transition.
These visual changes aim to give the interface a more responsive feel, particularly on flagship smartphones where hardware performance is already strong. OPPO is expected to reveal more details about the design changes and additional features during its October 13 announcement.
AI Suggest and Laminar Flow Engine Get Improvements
ColorOS 17 also brings upgrades to AI Suggest, which is designed to recommend widgets based on users’ habits and usage patterns. The improved feature is intended to make relevant information and app functions easier to access, although its effectiveness will depend on app compatibility and how accurately it identifies user preferences.
Another highlighted feature is the Laminar Flow Engine. OPPO says it is designed to maintain system speed, responsiveness and efficiency over time. These improvements could be particularly useful for users who keep their smartphones for several years, although real-world performance will need to be assessed after the stable update arrives.
OnePlus and Realme Phones Join the ColorOS 17 Beta
ColorOS 17 is also expanding beyond OPPO smartphones through beta programmes for eligible OnePlus and Realme devices.
In India, the OnePlus 15, OnePlus 15R, OnePlus 13, OnePlus 13s and OnePlus 13R are listed for the open beta. Eligible users can check the Updates section in Settings and look for the Beta programme option. OnePlus requires users to complete a quiz before being considered for the rollout.
Realme’s listed beta devices include the GT 8 Pro, GT 8 Pro Dream Edition, GT 7 Pro, GT 7T, GT 7 and GT 7 Dream Edition. OPPO’s eligible devices include models from the Find X9 and Find X8 series, along with select Reno 15 Pro variants.
Users should remember that beta software can contain bugs and compatibility issues. Backing up important data before installation is advisable.
ColorOS 17 Rollout Details Expected Soon
The October 13 announcement should provide a clearer picture of ColorOS 17’s features, rollout schedule and supported devices. The Find X10 series launch on October 21 will offer the first major look at the software running on OPPO’s upcoming flagship hardware.
For now, users should check official announcements for eligibility and installation instructions, as beta availability and stable rollout dates may vary by device and region.
