You may already be on the hunt for a new clean car ahead of the $7,500 EV tax credit’s fast-approaching September 30th expiration date. Costco just gave you another compelling reason to hurry up.
The retailer is offering its members discounts of $1,000 to $3,000 on a slew of electric models, including some of our top picks. The latest list of deals includes some new additions, and the current offers are good through September 30. That’s the same day the federal rebate programs for used, new, commercial, and leased electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles all come to a close thanks to Republicans’ One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
Until then, you can stack the Costco-member incentive on top of any other manufacturer bonuses or tax rebates. The deals may never get this good again.
Which EVs Qualify For Costco’s Incentives?
The current slate of EV deals includes Volvo and General Motors vehicles. Here’s the list, with links to our reviews where applicable:
For almost the entire list, the incentive is $1,000 for Gold Star and Business members, and $1,250 for anybody with an Executive membership.
There are two exceptions. For the Volvo EX90, the amounts are $1,500 and $2,000, respectively. And for the Chevy BrightDrop commercial vans, it’s $2,750 and $3,000.
What We Recommend
The Volvos we’re less crazy about. The EX90 rides comfortably, has an intuitive infotainment system with Google Built-in and offers a luxurious interior, Deputy Editor Mack Hogan noted in his first-drive review. But almost a year later, the model is reportedly still plagued by software gremlins.

The EX30—though it initially promised to be the stylish, cheap EV everybody’s been waiting for—isn’t a good value, InsideEVs Editor in Chief Patrick George found when he reviewed it recently. (An extra thousand bucks off could help out, but it’s really tariffs that are to blame.)
A bunch of the GM models are more worth considering, though. The Equinox EV remains one of the best values on America’s EV market, with well over 300 miles of range and a post-tax-credit starting price below $30,000. The Cadillac Lyriq and Optiq are both premium EVs we hold in high regard. And then there’s the Hummer EV. It’s an enormous, silly machine, but you can’t deny that it’s entertaining.
How The Costco Auto Program Works
Here’s how to claim these incentives. You browse the deals on Costco’s car buying site and register for one you like using your Costco member ID. That gives you a certificate that you can present at the Volvo or GM dealer of your choice to redeem your discount.
